Flute cleaning
I bought a used flute that arrived with lots of gunk (some of it green!) in the headjoint. The flute also smells musty and kind of disgusting. I have done what I can with rags and q-tips, but I would like to pull the stopper out and somehow really clean the thing. It is blackwood and keyless with a ...

Hudson Winds Whistle
I have a whistle purchased about 15 years ago that I believe was made by Hudson Winds. It does not, though, have any markings on it and so I am interested whether anyone has picture of one that they would be willing to share, or whether anyone knows whether the maker sometimes did not mark his whist...

FS: O'Brien Whistle Set
This is a set with one head and five bodies (Bb, C, D, Eb, E) made by David O'Brien, the Canadian whistle maker. I am not sure but it looks as if the whistles are anodized copper. Message me for pics. Price is $160 including shipping to the continental US. Shipping outside the US will be at cost.

Re: Breton players/recordings
Veillon's two solo albums are E Koad Nizan and Er Pasker. Both are incredible. There is an album with Veillon and Yvon Riou called Pont Gwenn ha Pont Stang, which is also great. Albums by the groups Barzan and Kornog are good and interesting, though the later band is less traditional. Finally there ...

Re: Your Favourite Recorded Flute Tone
I agree with Steampacket about McGlinchey. I've always been incredibly impressed with his sound.

Re: Flute Players of Roscommon
Yes, I emailed Celtic Grooves a couple of times over the last couple of months and never heard back, so I was assuming they are not in business anymore. I hope all is well with him. I would be interested if it turns out that they are just on vacation or something.

Re: Flute Players of Roscommon
Thanks, Kevin. I thought I had checked all the Amazons.
If anyone has a used copy they would be willing to sell, though, I would be interested. ($52 dollars shipped is a bit steeper than I had in mind.)

Flute Players of Roscommon
I've been trying to find a copy of "Flute Players of Roscommon, Vol. 1" and can't seem to find it anywhere. Does anyone either (a) know where I could buy a copy, (b) have one they would be willing to sell, or (c) have a copy they would be willing to share with me electronically? I can be c...

Re: COVID and Flute Making. Also summer music camps.
Here are a few camps that have been cancelled this year: Acadia Trad School (https://acadiatradschool.org/) Cascadia Irish Music Week (http://www.cascadiairish.org/) Boxwood Flute Festival Canada (https://boxwood.org/) Acadia is especially sad for those who like to attend because this was going to b...

Re: any recommendations for flute lessons via skype?
I second the recommendation of Sean Gavin. (You can PM me for contact info for Sean.) I've been studying with him on-line for a few months. He is steeped in the Irish tradition and a really good teacher. I also took a few Skype lessons with Conal O'Grada. He too was a great teacher; we just couldn't...

Re: Seery
I think the delrin Seery is very nice. I loved mine (it was stolen from my car). Big Pratten-ish sound, and very nicely in tune.
