Mark Hoza makes a two piece flute. I have one and like it even though he isn't one of the big shots. . I have a Hoza 5 key, probably the only one in existence. I wouldn't say he isn't one of the big shots. Tried a Hammy and Grinter. and the Hoza was in the same league. No offence of course to Hammy ...

so much fuss...
But whos stopping anyone from leaving if they dont like it here? Put up your own site and make your own rules,if you cant stand it here. Staying means agreeing to the rules put up by the moderators, simple as that.

Funny, but all my flute teachers and most of the accomplished players I've talked to agree not to concentrate to much on getting rid of the airy sound but rather on getting the tone to ring or resonate. Some even talked of an "air cushion" around the central tone to give it projection. Oth...

Working on three simultaneous projects at this point and I just pray I don't go insane. Eld, For sure, man! we gotta do that flute tune orgy again. Michael, Just sent you the pics...

I'm happy

I just won the Best Instrumentalist category at our recent entertainment awards for my work on saxophone and various flutes. Did not expect it, didn't even show up. Just wanted to share. The next round is on me.

Have you tried covering the right hand holes while playing the B? I have a couple of bamboo flutes that have the same problem. this seems to work for me. Play x00xxx instead of x00000. Hope it works for you too.

For shakuhachi go to www.shakuhachi.com. "Words Don't go there"- John Kaizan Neptune is one of my favorites. Solo shakuhachi with a nice mix of trad and modern compositions. The Taniguchi 4 CD set is excellent too. And if you play, they can be ordered with the scores for each of the tracks...

Ah Lads....steady up on the praise...my heads beginning to swell something savage! I go at the hard D as follows: - tighten the hole being formed by your mouth to focus the air - marginally increase the pressure of the air stream - focus the air downward into the flute more so than other notes - ho...

peeplj - An A flat to an F? I'm confused. Are there Irish tunes with A flats?????? Jeff Well, first of all, you wouldnt need keys for most Irish tunes. But the keyed flute wasnt designed for Irish music. So if you want to play music other than Irtrad that Ab to F transition will be a problem withou...

What if "sufficient" means you have to spend hours each day for the rest of your life in order to excell? Probably not practical... Jens Well, there are people nowadays who practice 10-12 hours a day. If it means that much to you, you will put in the time. I don't think many "virtuos...

I good friend of mine(and excellent sax/flue player)always tells me - it dont matter how long you practice as long as you do it everyday. He practices in pockets of 5-15 minutes and sounds great. I followed it and it works for me. He has this quote ( from where i have no idea): You don't practice on...
