As owner of a Bluebird whistle I highly recommend it.
If you like a pure, sweet sound this is a must have.

Speaking about an high D, my favorite is the Susato V-Series: Sweet sound, medium volume, perfect tuning and balance. Much better than the S-series in my opinion.

Review: Galeon Whistle
Galeon whistles are made in China by Andy Xu (he is a C&F member under the name andy_skiff). I ordered a whistle direcly from him about a month ago and when I got it, just a couple of days ago, I was very impressed by the quality of this instrument. The craftsmanship of the whistle is first rate...

Re: Suggestions for irish flute music played in jazzy style?
Keep forgetting to mention these guys on threads like this; did so on the session the other day. Anyway Ensemble Eriu is one of my favorite trad bands of recent years; only so much flute content (the bass player plays some flute and whistle) but definitely jazzy (like full on clarinet solos and eve...

Re: Suggestions for irish flute music played in jazzy style?
This question has been asked many times before and I usually recoil from the lameness of the examples put forth as "jazz" or (please don't let me wretch) "jazzy". Traditional Irish, Scottish or what have you players noodling around bending their notes, playing pentatonic, pentat...

Suggestions for irish flute music played in jazzy style?
Hi all,
Posted a similar post in the ITM forum also.
I’m looking for folk music (not only irish) played in a jazzy style.
Or folk music played with interesting chords, something like Flook, Micheal McGoldrick, ecc.
Any suggestion should be very appreciated, thanks!
