Thank you for posting this, I'll be passing it on. I have a musician friend who is stubbornly neglectful of wearing a dust mask when he should.

Re: Pheline physiology
Cats' claws ARE part of their toes. And they walk on their toes. They do have nerves and blood vessels in the upper part of their claws. So you want to be careful when doing extreme trimming. This website has detailed drawings and descriptions of cat claw anatomy at the top of the page. (Warning: it...

Re: Ravine Cats and small business ideas
Kevin, I know some former ferals who would like to be friends with the Ravine Cats. What size & format do you prefer for photos?

Re: long, held notes
Thanks for the great tips, everyone, especially re: the specifics of vibrato uses/notes/registers. That gives me a much better idea of what to try where. My whistle time has been very limited over the last several months. Now that I'm coming back to it, I find I'm wanting to hear & play things a...

long, held notes
So, there are lots of ways to break up long notes with ornaments, etc. But do you ever just hold them out? If so, what makes them sound good to your ear? Phrasing tricks? Volume changes? Thinking of this problem especially in relation to airs, and especially in relation to long high notes, but other...

Re: Looking for a certain apple candy...
I have bought those candies before -- Macintosh Apples. It's been years, though. Here's where I bought them: http://www.bandon.com/sweets/

I can't look at it. I have to scroll past it in the threads (while speed-reading to the extent possible). The Whistle Collector wrote:Thanks, I feel that it expresses the same emotions that I share with the computer as well.

Re: Devondancer update
The new Lesley avatar is so pretty and full of character, that at first I thought it must be a still from a movie.
So relieved to hear the relatively good news after such a scare!!! Go get 'em, Lesley!

Re: Enya watch
I sometimes wonder what Enya's voice would actually sound like if it wasn't so electronically modified and over-layered with echoes. Behind all of the mush there actually might be a genuine voice, but, then again, maybe not. We'll never know. My guess is that she would sound a lot like her sister, ...

Re: Devondancer update
I just love the image of Ro and Lesley sitting on the couch together, daring one another to move a muscle in defiance of the "rest" orders. They may be a middle-aged couple, but they're certainly not boring! Lesley, thanks for the bird update. I don't know why, but I haven't seen many bird...

Re: Devondancer update
I agree with Jerry. And I promise not to talk about oils again in this thread. :D Lesley, sometime when you are up to it, I would love to hear about your backyard birds (I think you or Ro mentioned them in a previous post). I'm more of a casual observer than a birdwatcher, but I always enjoy the bir...

Re: Devondancer update
I wouldn't use extra virgin oil for sautéeing as it alters chemically at relatively low temperatures. You've got me curious now. I usually cook at relatively low temperatures, although that's not how I see it done on TV! What kind of temperatures/heat settings are we talking about here? Me too. I d...
