Re: Carbony flute with silver flute spacing
I can't give feedback on that exact model, but I did just take delivery on a Carbony flute in low Bb. I want to post a full review at some point but I'm still getting used to the embouchure (definitely me, not the flute) and training my fingers to where the tone holes are, before writing that up. T...

Carbony flute with silver flute spacing
I'm thinking of buying a Carbony flute that has the silver flute spacing via chimney extenders. Does anyone own one of these or played one? What is your opinion of them?
Here is a link to the flute.

Re: Irish Flute Store/Firth and Pond
Thanks for all the replys so far. All really helpful.
The main thing that is attracting me is the make. I had a McGee 6 key GLP in the past which was lovely to play due to the finger spacing. I should never have sold it. I believe this is the flute Terry based the GLP on (correct me if I’m wrong).

Irish Flute Store/Firth and Pond
Hi. Does anyone know if the Irish flute store is on vacation at the moment? I’ve sent a few emails over the past week but getting no response.
I’m interested in this Firth and Pond. Anyone have any comments on it.

Re: Low D, low air
Thanks for the comments. I guess the long and short of it is that a big whistle needs a lot of air.

Re: Low D, low air
One thing to keep in mind is that Low Whistles have two different factors concerning air requirements, and oftentimes it's not clear which one people are referring to: 1) the quantity of air that passes through the whistle as you play (what I call "efficiency") 2) the force of air require...

Low D, low air
I usually play flute, but pulled my old chieftain (v1 I think) low D out of the attic the other day as I a had a hankering to play the whistle. Compared to playing flute it takes a lot of air! Is this normal or are there low Ds out there that don’t require huge lungs? If so can anyone recommend one?...
