Re: Wish me luck...

A Pigini eh ? great choice. I've never played one but hear they are very nice. I recognize some of your tunes, Good night Irene, STB, and Dashing White Sergeant etc. Well, I have more accordions than I care to admit. The Camillo IV, Bell, Lira, Crown, and the best of them all, Pancordion Panjet 45. ...

Re: Wish me luck...

Congrats on your performance. Would be interested in knowing the names of some of the tunes you played. Also, what brand of accordion do you play ? I notice several of the instruments in your group have red accordions. I also have a red one in my collection of accordions, its a Camillo IV made by Gu...

Re: getting rid cigarette smell from bellows

I agree, so long as you haven't had repeated exposure to smoke, you should be able to rid the box of odor by just playing a few times in a clean air enviornment and leaving it out of the case with the case open as well.
good luck

Re: buying an accordion advice

are you sure its not spelled "LIRA" ? If so it should have a model # stamped on the back such as Model 20 or Model 27 etc. etc. If you aren't familiar with what to look for in an accordion, it's best to locate someone that can make a fair judgement for you before you purchase. $150 is a re...

Very interesting, I didn't realize the radius turning was done free hand, I always thought one had a special radius tool.
Thanks for posting, it's good to see real hand made craftsmanship in todays automated world.

Re: Advice needed on buying Castagnari Dinn or Kriss box

You are right in your assumption, folkiekay. Her latest box is a three reed that I haven't seen. I tooted around on her other Hyde and also on her Castignari Tommy. Both were very nice. If I remember correctly, she had owned the Tommy for some time and it had really been put through the paces but st...

Re: Advice needed on buying Castagnari Dinn or Kriss box

Hi Martin, you don't say what type of music you are playing, I assume Irish or celtic of some kind. If that be the case, one thing that is very important is the bass end weight. Even if the overall weight is not a problem for you the bass weight can hamper your speed and can be more difficult when p...

Re: Anyone play the Italian Organetto??

Congrats on your new organetto. The Italians make fine instruments, I have a Castagnari Dinn II and am really having fun with it. I am learning mostly Irish, French Canadian and Contra dance tunes so far. Are you learning to play by ear or by reading the music ? I am wondering where you find the Ita...

Re: Squeezers fall by the wayside as recession bites?

Matt, I'm not sure but most likely the Excaliber is Chinese made. Don't know the quality or reliability of this brand. I played one of the new Hohner Chinese models for a time, a 72 base Nova II chromatic. It had decent build quality, weighed about 17 lbs and sounded good. I think the Hohner company...
