Well Thanks. I figured if I practiced enough, I'd get profficient enough to where I can start playing faster.. Now I know I need more practice on the whistle, but now also what I need to work on is putting ornamentation into my reels, or reel.... Haha. Don't worry about playing faster. While it can...

It depends on what you're trying to learn. Are you wanting to learn Irish traditional music, or just want to play whistle for your own private enjoyment?

Re: ITM question. Same instrument?

So I was wondering if people practice harmonies for common songs (more like a string quartet), or if that is not part of the style of ITM. The music is played in unison, not with harmony as you describe. When people ask about the characteristics of ITM, I usually point them here: http://www.itma.ie...

Call me cynical, but Dr. Giggles posted this question over 4 years ago and hasn't posted to the board in over 3. Do you think there's a chance he may have made the decision?

This thread has turned into a colossal waste of time. It has gone from anger, hurt, agreement, disagreement, accusation, to improbable resolution. We all have our views and our side of things, which we voice, but it’s done nothing except divide and isolate. The conversations seem to be an exercise i...

Izzarina, Thanks for your post. I appreciate that you took the time to offer your views in such a sincere manner. I've been mulling over your comments and debating whether or not it would productive to give some sort of reply. It might be productive for an understanding between us, but not the commu...

I can see that Murphy has friends in here, and that's great, but go back and review the initial post again as if he wasn't your offspring. Try to imagine him singling you out or your posting habits or insulting your contributions. Try thinking about the unnamed whose feelings might be hurt by what ...

You obviously have a relationship with Murphy in this forum as noted by his comments about you, but I also received comments. I'm fascinated how Murphy could post something so acerbic and rude and find anyone defending him. If I posted that same thread I'd be tarred and feathered and chased off the...

That's more or less what I understood from Jack's thread. Condensed version: manners I think he might have employed better manners in getting his message across if that the gist. The errant attacks he made on some people were uncalled for and wouldn’t be considered very polite in any setting. I’m n...

Anyone get the sense that at least some of the board should be like a really good session? A private conversation held in a public arena? Join a thread if you have something meaningful to contribute and ignore it if you can't? Not just the deep 'topical' threads, but even the ones -- especially the...

For the record, Jack, your post did make me think and look back over some posts. A glance in the old mirror isn’t very pleasant sometimes. There have been instances where I’ve had regret: why did I post that, what did I think I was contributing, was I just rambling to hear myself talk – maybe I was ...

And Emm, I wasn't really looking for Bloomfield's support.. Oh, I know you can stand up for yourself, I just think he's your guardian angel anyway. I don't know that Bloo is anyone's guardian angel, but more that he's probably a member of the Fipple Five, with an association to the Montreal Syndica...
