E dorian and D ionian have the same notes in them. That's why it's so convenient to play Edor on D whistle. avamigran (for migraines, yes I'm in the few percent of the male population that has migraines, lucky me) makes my hands shake so it's quite difficult to play the whistle then ... but that nasty migraine head ache goes away, and when you have a migraine you DO NOT WANT to play the whistle or anybody...
