Re: banshee lament

Sounds like Finbar Furey to me, but I can't find a recording reference.

Re: Recording piping on a Macbook Pro (Retina)

The first hurdle is that the Retina Macbook Pro does not have a dedicated line input. So you either have to use the internal mic, or get either a USB adapter, or a headset adapter to use an external mic. Re: Dance Music of Willie Clancy

Try your local public library. My library was able to get a copy on an interlibrary loan. A couple of hours with a scanner and printer got me a copy. (I don't condone pirating copyrighted works, but I think this is OK for personal use. I would have gladly purchased a new copy if one was available).

Re: At First Light - Idir CD

While I normally prefer CDs to downloaded MP3s, I noticed this was available on Amazon's MP3 site and I bought it there. So if you can cancel your order, that's another option for you.

Re: Has the Pipers' Review gone defunct?

Your membership must have lapsed. I received volume 30, No 2, Spring 2011 several weeks ago. But thanks for reminding me it was time to renew again.

Re: Flat pipes: C and Narrow D question?

Jerry O'Sullivan gave a great concert last night, playing his K&Q C set. According to Jerry, it was patterned after an Egan set.

Thanks for the heads-up Patrick. I've been looking forward to this CD for a couple of years.

All the best,

Re: ne pa instructor

There is a weekend workshop next weekend (Jan 8-10) in Shepherdstown WV, which is a just over a 3 hour drive from Jim Thorpe. Jerry O'Sullivan is teaching uilleann pipes again this year. I've attended this weekend the past three years, and Jerry's workshops are excellent. He is a very patient teache...

Contact your local public library. I did that a couple of years ago and they were able to find it for me on an interlibrary loan.

Re: Help-- recording from the internet.

I use iTunes to capture all of the ClareFM trad shows as a podcast. Any podcatcher should work if you don't like iTunes. Try an internet search for your OS, for example "Linux podcatcher". Here is the URL for the podcast: http://www.clare.fm/music/ClareFM%20trad%20archive/rss.xml Using a p...

Rory,

I don't see it on the National Gallery website now, but last time I was in Ireland, I saw it in tourist-type places such as the Bunratty Castle gift shop. You might try NPU as well.

All the best,
Joe

PD.
Sure, Ellie Mae looks pretty hot here, but this picture is from the 60's. Her more recent picture shows up on ebay occasionally, still holding her pipes in her trademark pose.
