Re: Double cuts
they’re just a succession of cuts on different notes above the note you’re ornamenting. The main trouble with them from a learning perspective is that they have to be so precise (that is, one has to finish before the next begins) that you have to play exceedingly slowly to incorporate them into a tu...

Re: Uilleann pipes case question
Just in case anyone missed this in the Tonarelli case thread, I’ve recently fitted up one of those fiddle cases as my biggest, take everything to a gig if necessary, case. It is good in that it can actually hold several sets of pipes (3/4 concert and 5/8ths flat set with flat set bass reg top and dr...

Re: Uilleann Pipe travel case Tonareli
I’ve recently fitted up one of those as my biggest, take everything to a gig if necessary. It is good in that it can actually hold several sets of pipes and doesn’t seem to triggere airlines or security unduly. It was also relatively straightforward to retrofit for pipes (even to drilling it for res...

WTB: Dave Shaw Shuttle drones/set
Hi All,
Anyone have a set of Dave Shaw's shuttle pipes (or even better, just drones/bag and drones) they're not playing and might like to part with?
Cheers,
Ben

Re: Prewaxed threads - where to buy them?
search online for Crawford waxed linen thread from the N of Ireland. Comes in various plies (and colours). Very fine stuff. I go through spool after spool of it. If you can only find the 4 ply, you can always divided it to two or single ply as needed.

wtb: quality Irish bouzouki and octave mandolin, A mandolin
Hi All, a fellow I play with is looking for a high quality Irish bouzouki and an octave mandolin (long scale Irish style) to play in a show. To give a better idea, the instruments he is hoping to come reasonably close to in sound (ie the ones in the show he’ll be replacing) are a Foley zouk and Tril...
