Re: Sam Murray and Flute Deliveries?

I was under the impression, perhaps mistaken, that we didn't do internet pile-ons here.

Factual reporting of actual experiences, maybe, but not character assassinations.

Re: Sam Murray and Flute Deliveries?

No, I'm saying it's dodgy to meta-analyze someone you've had no dealings with personally, as has happened several times in this thread. I made no comment on folks who have actual experiences to report.

More expert analysis from a man who didn't read my post.

Re: Sam Murray and Flute Deliveries?

Whatever the truth of the particular situation, and in fairness I know the man in question and can imagine the complications, I am nonplussed by the in-depth analyses offered by folks who have neither met Sam nor had any dealings with him whatsoever.

Are you sure it didn't have a run-in with an over-baked pepparkakor?

Re: Some medical flute chat....

If your little finger is constantly stressed by pushing against the flute, that will not only strain it but assuredly will tend to limit general dexterity in the hand. You can't be serious, not in the same thread with that pic of the mighty Matt with his pinky anchored! How's Matt's dexterity, I wo...

I'm imagining some berk in Friel's Kitchen with the first volume of "Ceol Rince na hEireann" appending from his wrist, spilling pints and causing ructions.

Re: New Olwell Nicholson flute on E-bay

Jem, I think you're letting your passion for Rudalls interfere with your understanding of markets. You're also assuming your own hierarchy of value is universal, which it ain't, alas. I adore old Rudalls, but I gig on an Olwell. Plenty of serious players do the same, even those who own both types of...

FS: Vega Style M Tu-Ba-Phone Tenor Banjo

Hi all, I have for sale a super-clean Vega Style M Tu-Ba-Phone tenor banjo, with a 17 fret neck and 11-7/8" pot. In addition to being as close to mint as a 90+ year-old instrument can get, it's perfectly set up and sounds great. Not the cheapest one out there at $1275 Paypal/shipped in CONUS (o...

Re: George and Manby

Now, now, let's be kind to Andrew. When I went to visit him, in the company of Chris Wilkes, he hated me on sight. American, long-hair, say no more. Refreshingly, he immediately shared his aversion in no uncertain terms, so at least I wasn't left wondering. Huffing and furrowing his brow, he started...

Re: Trad String Instruments on Youtube

Haven't contributed anything for a while, but here's a video of myself and Matthew Olwell (yes, of THOSE Olwells) knocking around on "Cluck Old Hen":

http://youtu.be/9maVNitTqWA

The banjo is a 20s Vega Tubaphone guitar-banjo. The feet are, I suspect, stock.

Re: The G&A Flute YT Thread Thread

Jim, you're going to have to give over on this one. I can't even recall what or when I've posted in the two threads myself, but if there was ever any uncertainty about which thread is for "vanity publication" and which is for exemplary playing, it should be well clear now. It makes perfect...
