Re: Questions about cork position, keys and models
Thanks for your replies, guys!! I think I'll go with the beeswax in the end, but before I would try different angles. As you said, Jem, the traverso is different; totally agree with that but what I meant was that on these flutes you need to "find" every note in differen places. The modern ...

Re: Questions about cork position, keys and models
A is a generally problematic note on simple-system flutes. If it's fully in-tune blowing the same way as you blow a G, then it will be weak; if it's strong it tends to be sharp. Of course some makers do a very good job working this out. My experience with nach Meyers is the same as yours -- they te...

Questions about cork position, keys and models
Hi all! It happens I have two "nach Meyer" flutes and I hace some issues regarding tuning, specially on A (first and second octave). On both flutes, A's are sharp. It might be a problem with the instrument but it's strange both flutes have the same one. I was wondering if I'm missing using...

Definitely Glenn Watson. I have an 8-keyed flute in D and I'm in love with it. Great volume, tuning, keywork and even light in weight. Awesome instrument!

Re: To all irish speakers, I need a short translation
And put it on a proper file sharing site like Box.net. It seems like a "proper" enough site to me. I can access the file (mp3 clip) just fine. And as Moderator, I would have noted if that weren't the case. Too bad you can't, as it sounds like you'd be able to help. Yes, we also rec...

To all irish speakers, I need a short translation
Hi everyone! This is the first time I ever post here in this irish language forum. I've read the rules and understand this is not a translation forum. However, since I have this short piece of audio and cannot even put it in words, I really need help. Back in 2004 I've visited Ireland with my fellow...

Re: Long-F Key proper venting
Thanks for the explanation, Jem! I think the key is venting properly but it's good to know for the future.

Long-F Key proper venting
Hey guys! How are you? Just wondering if any of you have the same doubt as I have and that is I don't know if the long-f key is opening as much as it needs to vent the note properly. I believe it was always like that and I don't think it bent or something but the other day I was practicing and focus...

Need advice with this tune
Hey guys, the other day I came up with this tune (it's a jig) and was wondering how should I separate those bottom Ds. This is how it goes: ADD DAG|ADD D2A|ABB BAG|ADD D So, should I use cuts between. I need to play it quite fast so silencing the chanter doesn't seem to be the way. And how about tho...
