Good topic and good points. It's important though that newcomers should be told that during sessions it is inappropriate to improvise and generally be covered on how the traditional sessions work. If this happens, I doubt they will try to spoil everybody's fun. I suspect that in many cases the newco...

"Ultimate" has the word "mate" in it. A mate is a friend. So "ultifriend" is like "ultimate". Maybe that's in the language called Strine. I'm not sure. That was cheap flat humour. I should organize a flat humour club. It would be free to enter, but you pay a ...

Okay. Let's generalize then - bagpipers need alcohol. Fine. I don't play a bagpipe anyway =)

What about bagpipe? :) Hm... some people may tend to say that whiskey will go here too. I'd personally suggest just pure water. And no smoking - good bagpipe player should have healthy lungs. On the other hand smoking calms the mind and every bagpipe player is confronted with tough stress situation...

I'd say harmonica needs a beer and bodhrán - probably a milk shake.

I guess it all comes down to drinking the right beverage before playing an instrument. While low whistle by definition requires whiskey, an accordion may require smth else. I suggest that saxophone needs something decent, like coffee, while piano requires wine. Or champagne.

The ultifriend secret behing good low whistle playing

Low is an acronym. Of course you knew that. What does it stand for? Lots Of Whiskey , yes. So what's a low whistle? Yep, a lots-of-whiskey-whistle. And what do you need to play it? Right. edits ps: erm. I guess it's not a good idea to post this in the whistle forum... admins, move it to Off Topics p...

I play mostly Generations, then Feadogs, and a couple Burkes from time to time, and I've seen players use the feathering vibrato, (where you flutter the finger (s) just above the hole, while actually not touching it) yet for some reason I can't seem to get the same results with my whistles. What's ...

My recorder teacher who can basically play anything you blow into, said that to understand the proper way to breath when playin is watching yourself taking air when talking. You do that just when you need it, by small portions and you do it automatically and yet you don't stop your speech for that. ...

I play Generation whistles. Bb is tweaked and I can switch from higher notes to lower easier on it. Also a Generation D, not tweaked, my main whistle. Also I have a tweaked Walton, but it's lowest note requires so small a flow, that it also works not very well.
