Re: FS: Six key Sam Murray Boxwood D Flute

Having met the seller and the flute on many occasions I'm happy to recommend both the vendor and the thing that is for sale. If I didn't already have a flute, and wasn't a bit deaf, I'd very likely buy this instrument. I hope whoever does buy it gets as much enjoyment from playing it as I have got f...

Re: "Belfast March" from Harry Bradley

Kevin's right. It's a Lambeg drum tune (the fifes are just playing second fiddle - like a melody instrument and a bodhrán in a session at a Fleadh). A quick Google search found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCMrVpks8sk&t=15s. That's the 'native' speed for these tunes. You'll not hear the...

Re: Am I out of tune? ;)

I'm sure you'd prefer not to name the 'senior' flute player, otherwise you would have already done so. Perhaps you could post a photograph of them instead but still not name them. It sounds like they have a few more problems to face up to than just a badly calibrated ear, be that their own or that o...

Re: Skype Lessons With Michael Clarkson

The classes seem to be going well; some people have even come back for more! If anyone else is interested they can give be a shout. I'm OK with timezone differences - there's something strangely therapeutic about playing tunes at a computer late at night.

Re: Eddie Moloney recordings

Just had a chance to listen to these recordings (I got them from Claddagh Records but I'm sure they're available other places too). It has some of the best recorded flute playing I've heard in years - great job by all concerned (including Eddie Moloney).

Re: CP: "The Keymaster" now online!

Really enjoyed spending an hour and a half watching this instead of doing what I was supposed to be working on last night. Excellent film - thanks for making it.

Re: John McKenna 2 CD: The Buck from the Mountain

Having been involved to a minor extent in this John McKenna project, can I just reiterate that every one who aspires to an interest in Irish traditional music, not just flute music, should have this book and CD set. Great praise is due to Sean Gilrane who has been exhaustive in researching this who...

Re: Piccolo Page

I reckon there will be a surge of watchers on eBay piccolos for a few weeks. (This is usual when there is a decent pic thread on here). Then things will go back to normal. Thanks all, Cheers KKrell, Patrick Maybe a good time for me to flog a few yards of piccolo from the cupboard here ... 18...

Re: Piccolo Page

Thanks for your page. I just hope it doesn't cause a relapse of my recent piccolo purchase problem. I seem to have accumulated a Rudall & Carte (via Jem on this site), a pair of Hawkes & Son little flutes, one by Besson, one by Boosey & Co along with a few assorted continental sticks and...

Re: Problem Bean

It looks like Podbean have located the missing MP3 files and the links are working again. Thanks for the offers of copies since I reported that they had gone AWOL. Hopefully they'll not lose the tunes again.

Re: Problem Bean

Hi. No fundraiser needed or asked for. Thanks all the same, I really appreciate the good wishes. I've already had a reply from Podbean and they are looking at whatever glitch may have occurred.
Whatever happens, I'll get it sorted.
Thanks again,
M.

Problem Bean

Hi, I got an email today telling me that all of the mp3 links on my Irish Flute Tunes site http://irishflute.podbean.com from before late 2009 had stopped working. I've checked this out and this seems to be the case. I've contacted podbean.com to see whether they are willing and/or able to fix the *...
