Re: I Think I Might Have a Ghost...

Have you tried reacting to the phantom in a way other than with shock and disbelief? Perhaps "she" is teaching you something about the limits of your perception. I've learned to stay open, with our cats, and have been taught a thing or two. Sigh. Oh. Wait. We're the dominant species...righ...

Maybe we should cover the world with hemp, and try that for a hundred years.

We're versatile.

Re: Worse than the oil spill - plastic in the ocean

So let's see...

We seem to be an oil-addicted and trashy species.

Honestly, we're not quite as bright as we need to be. (Or not to be.)

Re: Howard Low - Third Octave?

I had a Howard Low D, years ago. Liked the tone, but never could get into the 3rd.

If my Burke Viper (alu.) is any indication, you won't find many Lows that can match it, for easy access to high d and e. Clear as a bell, and no finger gymnastics.

Re: The Generation Bb: gateway drug to the Low Whistles

My gateway drug to Low Whistles was a Low F. At the time, it seemed huge, and yes, there was a steep learning curve involved. (Now, years later, Low F is the smallest whistle I play. Live and learn.) I also play Carbony Low D and Low F. I love their tone...a gentle and slightly breathy sound...and I...

Yet another amazing image that could serve as an "emotional portrait" of one's first marraige.

Don't look back!

Re: American Idol...well into the season

Matt joked that sometimes when contestants "make it their own," it is because they lack the basic ability to learn a song the way it was written. That many times the contestant is trying to sing it straight but because of mistakes, it becomes an "original Hmmm. This sounds familiar. ...

Re: Odd News

This makes me really appreciate the still-clean Pacific beaches I often walk. I can barely imagine the bizarre and hellish scene of confronting massive oil on it all. Gotta feel for the folk living, and trying to make a living, on that whole Gulf Coast. What a brutal reality they are facing in their...

Re: Odd News

While man-made disasters aren't exactly "odd news," this BP mess IS odd, by virtue of it's colossal size. It's unnerving to see these oil potentates being so impotent in their seemingly ditzy efforts to stop their massive flood of oil into our waters and coast-land. I'm 65 years old, and t...
