Bumping because I love looking at piles of whistles.

I probably won't post mine because I don't have anything spectacular in it (Although my WhoA kicked in again today and I bought myself a Generation G in nickel, brining my total to five whistles).

I'd be interested if somebody posted a picture of a well used nickel whistle. I own and have seen pictures of tarnished brass whistles, but all the pictures of nickel whistles seem to be of new, perfectly shiny whistles. Also, how slippery is slippery? I find my Meg to be a tad slippery, but certain...

Brass or Nickel

Hi all I'm just wondering what material everyone prefers for their whistles. I know a lot of the more inexpensive whistles (Generations, Feadogs, Clares) are available in both brass and nickel, and I'm wondering which everyone prefers. I didn't vote because I've never played a nickel whistle (yet). ...

Oh, of course you don't :D. I'm just trying to decide whether my next whistle should be another key--not whether I should get another one. I currently have 3 high D whistles and I'm trying to decide if my next should be in a different key.

Other Keyed Whistles

Hey all
Would I have a reason to get whistles in a key other than D if I don't play in sessions?

Heh, I figured this would be a question asked ad nauseum. I searched the fourm, but there are simply so many threads to sort through that pertain to CD's it's difficult to find one that actually answers my question.

Feel free to just point me to another thread if you know of one.

Whistle CD's

I'm looking for some awesome solo whistle CD's. That is, not CD's of bands that just so happen to have a guy playing whistle in it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Repeated Notes

I was wondering what kind of embelishments work best on repeated notes. I'm currently learning the Swallowtail Jig and the Kesh Jig, and both of those songs contain lots of repeated notes. What could I do to them other than just tonguing them?

Donnybrook Fair was the first one I learned. I'm now learning my second jig, the Kesh Jig.

1) Learn the D major scale (2 octaves) [done] 2) Learn the G major scale (only one octave) [done] 3) Learn Donnybrook fair [more or less done. Could sound better, and hand spasms when I try to tap, resulting in what sounds more like a trill. I also forget to breathe, so I end up with awkward breaths...

Some Terms

I've been reading this site a lot, but I can't figure out what "pure drop" or "chiff" is. Google doesn't seem to help.

Thanks
