Re: does someone recognize this? (possible allergy?)

I only use the Burts after I play. I've never found anything over the years that I could wear while playing. Yeah, the AJ lips may be fashionable but they sure aren't functional. I am going to give a few things a try and see what happens. I love my flute and if it comes down to it I may just have a ...

Re: does someone recognize this? (possible allergy?)

The issue isn't the Burts, but thank you for sharing. I was commenting upon how the other blister may have spread to my upper lip. I did wipe down the mouthpiece area with rubbing alcohol today as well as inside the hole. I rehearsed with a friend today and the dang blisters have arisen again. Argh!...

Re: does someone recognize this? (possible allergy?)

After reading over all the comments (and various off topic ramblings  ) again, I think I have come up with a plan for my situation. I am using the same type of oil as I have for years on my flutes. This particular flute is my first in black wood. I waited for the lovely R&R eight key from ...

Re: does someone recognize this? (possible allergy?)

I am curious to know what you ended up doing Berti. I have recently been having problems with what appears to be an allergy to black wood... my reaction is very similar to those described in this thread.

Thank you!

Re: Looking for teacher

Hi Bill, This post was recently brought to my attention, so I thought I would chime in. I am the Greta referenced previously in the thread. The main and most consistent session that is happening in Louisville is at Molly Malone's. It is on the third Sunday of each month. The time has recently been c...

While at Tionol in St. Louis, I met a flute player that used a hard leather wine carrier for his flute and whistles. It looked something like this: http://i8.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/f1/71/386d_1_sbl.JPG http://i2.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/f1/71/3635_1_sbl.JPG He had a Casey Burns keyless that he left in its...

Norcalbob got hung up in Atlanta, had his luggage lost, and only arrived in St. Louis early Saturday evening, having been up for 36 hours straight. He did manage to get to the McGurk session on Sunday. I am so sorry to hear about that!! And Bob, if you need the tunes and recordings from the class, ...

I understand that Kevin has taught his most recent classes entirely by ear. If that's the case, I will probably be woefully lost since I'm addicted to the dots. I will most certainly be at the head of the inexperience level; so I may have to resort to faking it "air flute" style... ...

What do you plan to do for housing and meals? I am still in the process of researching housing. I haven't called the Graceland Inn or the Conference Center (that the brochure suggests) however after an internet search I found that their standard rates for one person is just over $100 per night. I t...

You might ask Cathy Wilde. She LOVES Dervish. I wasn't able to make it to the concert, and I am pretty sure she didn't get to go either.

Milton, land of the pumpkin festival and International Headquarters of the Church of Wicca? I've been there many times. Or does Hinton have a pumpkin festival too? I always got them mixed up on the map. Yep...Milton has the Pumpkin Festival, is home of Blenko glass, and the state's largest i...
