Re: B roll problems

I never said that Brian Finnegan uses triple tounging to avoid the difficulty of using rolls as I doubt he finds rolling difficult at all.. As for cutting with the left hand index finger,- I find that it is both easier and that it sounds better, but by all means, people may use their toes for doing ...

Re: B roll problems

,-alternatives are useless No, they're not, although I would perhaps question the value of reversing the cut and tap in this case. However, alternatives can, in the long term, be a means of variation and are thus worth having under your fingers. In the short term they allow you to play a satisfacto...

Re: B roll problems

Thanks, guys. I'm working specifically on the b roll. Alternatives are certainly nice, but unless they are going to help me execute that roll cleanly, I'll have to save them for later. Exactly,-alternatives are useless, and only serves to never learn that B-roll. Perhaps you're having the same prob...

Re: Copeland on eBay

AYE MATES, That is a whole lot of pennies for 4 "penny whistles". :boggle:  Cayden It would be worth all those pennies if one became a better whistler. Sorry to say, not even all the Copelands in the world, nor a hefty pricetag will make us play better. I'm the owner of a high D bras...

Re: Walton 'Mellow' D

My favorite high D whistle is a Mellow D as tweaked a number of years ago by Vargas (whatever happened to him?) In addition to reworking the mouthpiece, he added about 1/4" of brass tubing on the end to fix the intonation. He also added a tuning slide. The tube is about 1.5mm greater in diamet...

Re: Something to drool over.

Thing is, injection-moulded plastic was all the rage in the 1950s; it was viewed as an exciting new technology, sort of 'hip'. A whole new industry, plastic model kits, was born, and was quite popular in the 1960s. I can see Generation, back then, thinking that they needed to stay modern, current, ...

Re: Something to drool over.

Perhaps they thought plastic was safer than lead.
Most likely they didn't care. Lead was considered unharmful by the industry,-a natural substance.
They could have used silver-solder, but lead was cheaper.

Something to drool over.

Mind your saliva folks,-here's something to really drool over. Forget Copeland whistles, or any other brand for that matter. This gem is rare and hard to come by, and not only that,-it has a sound that most whistles could envy. Allow me to present a Generation D-whistle made before the plastic fippl...

I have a Copeland D myself that I consider selling sometime in the future, and I would
be pleased if you could inform me about the final selling price.
Thanks, and happy selling.

Re: Copeland brass high-D

Thanks for the reply. I'll shoot some pics etc. Then I'll post it for sale. I also have a Generation D made before they started injection molding the fipples. In other words, an all metal Generation. Fully playable and very nice sounding, so it is a decent player and not only suitable for sitting on...

. . . and I wish this forum was much more than a forum. In that way, posting musical examples would be easy.
I do have a few ideas though . . .

Re: Whistle Tweaking Question

Countersinking the holes will cause less turbulence and improved efficiency, and could therefore very easily raise the pitch.
Make a whistle from pvc-tubing first and experiment.
