Re: Expand repertoire or concentrate on triplets?

Both, but you can retro fit the clever stuff in as you progress. Practicing the clever stuff in isolation is very useful, I think. But speed at the beginning is counter productive. Its accuracy you want to achieve, no matter how slowly you play them. I suggest playing a long starting note, and then ...

Re: Uillean Sheet Music Books/Collections

There are two extremes that come to mind. The Dance Music of Seamus Ennis. by Pay Mitchell and Music from The Piper's Choice. By Joe Doyle Both published by NPU ( www.pipers.ie). There are others too, of course, but of those, more difficult to get hold of as they are some distance from publication, ...

Re: Alain Froment Full set

[quoteYes of course, as for the last 20 years or so there are a number of pipe makers making pipes to a very high standard to choose from. Some such as Marcus Coulter, David Lim, Donnacha Dwyer, Andy May, Makoto Nakatsi, Evertjan t'Hart, Tim & Stephanie Benson and Brian Bigley have been inspired...

The Drones and Chanters, Vols. One and Two. And The Pipers Rock ( pieces from many of those mentioned in the first reply but recorded when they were 'young' in the latter, some great playing.

Re: Using fertilizer on Arundo donax?

I have no detailed information on Arundo, except it seems to yield very well in the right conditions on its own, without any help from fertiliser. It can and is an invasive species, so confine your stand, or else. A noxious weed in many circumstances. The effect of fertiliser is beneficial generally...

This seller needs a reed and a sound sample to sell. He's only 15 minutes away from Robbie Hughes. Hopefully he might read this and get it sorted.

Re: Liam O'Flynn's pipes.

I enjoyed hearing what was great playing, and the O 'Flynn sound from the chanter. To my ear, the regs were not in tune. I think it is very difficult to emulate the sound from some other persons set, for all sorts of reasons. But, your man did a GREAT job, and lovely playing. I am glad that some one...

Re: Patsy Brown - bellows ?

I recently recovered a bellows built for a child that had the same general shape of the original poster's set. The paddles were too badly damaged to re-use, but the old cheeks were clearly marked Leo Rowsome. The set was in some state but had no metal work for hinges. The leather was nailed to the p...
