Re: Installing harp sharping levers
Redwolf has given you good advice and I agree 100% that the hardest part about installing the lever is getting it in the right spot. If you do decide to do this yourself one suggestion I will make is that after you mark the lever location, take a sharp awl or punch and create a starting point for yo...

Re: Baby advice.
As others have already said, sleep will become a fond memory. Even if they are identical, be prepared for two completely different personalities, habits and sleeping/feeding schedules. Don't be shy or ashamed to ask for help, and take it whenever it is offered. Especially if it offers you and your b...

Re: To loosen or not ?
Weedie; You can drop the pitch down a step or two but that is about it. Don't take all the tension off. The shed thing is potentially the bigger worry. If you have a hygrometer, stick it in there and you will see that the relative humidity is swinging high to low and back again....and those bags are...

As far as 'coming good in the second half' goes, well, like they say, close only counts in horsesho...

Re: Did I breach etiquette?
I'm not a flute maker, but I do get asked quite often about one aspect or another of instrument making. Sometimes the person asking states right upfront that another builder is on the top of their list, sometimes not. But in either case, I try to answer each question as honestly and to the best of m...

Unless you have really big pegs in there already, the holes will have to be reamed out to accommodate a planetary peg. You can get a set of 4 from McSpadden for $45

Re: Dull string on my brass-strung harp
I'm curious Redwolf; did you get that string replaced yet? In reading through your comments, I suspect that the problem may be a ding or permanent dent in the string either right at the sound board or by the hitch pin.

Re: dog bunny wife interface picture thread
My first thought for a "back up plan" was a nice little bunny sized quick draw holster and gun set (or at least a taser) so the rabbit could defend itself....Nanohedron wrote:I call that "stew".cowtime wrote:Oh, and I'd have a back-up plan- for the rabbit, just in case....

Re: My Cat is So Weird (Part 8)
... Two weeks from now she will be going on a 500+ mile road trip to my new digs in Missourri. That is going to be interesting. Of course, being tarred and feathered is probably interesting too. In light of how she has handled other car trips, I may just warm up the tar and take a dip instead. :sho...

Re: My Cat is So Weird (Part 8)
PK has a wide variety of sounds. One means "feed me!" The rest basically all mean "In about 10 seconds I am going to shred what ever part of you is with in reach". In all fairness, she has mellowed a bit with age and now every so often makes this little chirping sound which means...

Re: Strong Food Aversions
My daughter once claimed that I have a "wild dog" attitude toward food. That is, if it's not moving, I'll try it.....and if it is moving, I'll kill it, then eat it. She may be right...... except for hot dogs. I don't care what you put on them, smother them in, bury them in, I can't stand t...

Re: So, what is everyone doing this weekend?
Now I have two large piles of dirt in the backyard, and I need to find somewhere to put it. You could do what my neighbors did: regrade your entire yard so any heavy rain flows into your neighbors yard. Unfortunately, all of my neighbors, over the span of a few years have done just that, ...
