Need another option
For at least myself, we need another option to vote. Something along the lines: Piper is so green that he doesn't know what a rush is or how to use it. or Piper can't sound note long enough to tell if it is in tune. I will say that my chanter sounded great when played by a real piper. :D -- Glenn

Good answering questions
Hi, CJ is very responsive with answering questions. After several exchanges I had spec-ed out a cobocol practice set and was prepared to send in an order when my fiance surprised me Christmas 2005 with a chanter. I felt rather guilty not ordering after so many questions, but I did not want to turn d...

Worth the wait!
Hi everyone! We have a happy ending to this thread! :D I met the maker at a festival about 3 1/2 hrs from my home. Was able to listen to him perform for about 45 min then had about an hour lesson. Durring parts of the lesson he played my chanter and I can attest that the chanter sounds excellent wit...

Contact!
 I sent a new email yesterday and received a reply. Chanter has been worked on. The maker will be traveling through my area and we have arranged to meet this Saturday. Will post an update afterwards. Thanks to all that responded, especially if anyone did any behind the scenes work. -- Glenn

thanks
Thanks everyone for the replies so far! The work being done includes a chanter reed and shaping of the tone holes. Other work may or may not be required. No drones are being added. I agree that pros should get priority. The maker is also a performer, so I am sure that is also a factor and is underst...

Being impatient?
Hi all, I sent in my starter set to be modified in June 2006 by a pipe maker other than the original. A couple of times that I've sent an email I've received a response stating that the person had been busy on other things, but would get to the pipes in a couple of weeks. Other times the emails go u...

Patient with newbie questions
I'd like to put a plug in for CJ Dixon as far as general help. He was very patient with me when I was playing 20 questions with him a few months ago. I'd like to eventually get that cocobolo set we had talked about.

Other Instruments
I wouldn't classify what I do on the pipes as playing yet.
However, I have played both 6 & 12 string accoustic guitar for 26 years in various church choirs/folk groups. Both guitars are Alvarez Yaries.
Also sing Tenor when I do sing.

worst piper
I have to be in that list somewhere. I've only had a chance to play my starter set once and I had described it as a cross between a sick goose and a party favor (which would have been much cheaper and easier  ). As far as the geese looking amorously, I'm going to have to keep an eye on Borris a...

Received one
Hi all, I'm more-or-less in the boat as described here. A few months ago I had correspondence with Mr CJ Dixon about uilleann pipes and specified out a nice cocobolo set for about $1100 after all options. Much to my surprise, my fiancee presented me with a chanter as a combined Christmas/ birthday p...
