CP: Oz Whistles systems crash

Hello all! Just a bulletin to inform customers of Oz Whistles: We suffered a massive systems crash in February which destroyed our email and order systems. The crash took-out our email, our order book and the build book (includes who the whistle is for and delivery details). The site and operations ...

Re: Feadog c brass arrived today tweak question

I too, have a soft spot for the tin plates. Also,I like the sound of the Megs and Sweetones when others play them, but not when I play them. I know Tyler. I learned a great trick from a "well known player" years ago. You play the thing near a brick-wall to hear what it sounds like to othe...

Re: Narrow and wide bore?

Just a simple reply here. Narrow bore requires a lot less energy to blow. On the narrow bore, the jump between octaves on a whistle is extremely sensitive. On the wider bores, the jump becomes more "intentional" or "aggressive". The additional energy translates to loudness. But m...

Re: Roy McManus: master craftsman and gentleman

I usually speak to makers. In Roy's case, I thought I'd hold off. There's no need to say anything - he gets it. This is a delight. Whistles will never make billionaires .. and that's a shame. All else seems like frivolous addictions while music and dance are real. But while others pay for drugs like...

Re: Feadog c brass arrived today tweak question

I have a "soft-spot" for Clark whistles. Of the full tinplate ones .. not a lot. They take too much air for my old lungs. And resist "tweaking". But the Sweetones and Megs? Nice. The taper is too steep. But that is kinda good. The second octave takes a lot less breath and one can...

CP: Oz Whistles - A new year and a new approach!

Hi all, Hoping all had a music-filled festive-season! Since starvation appears to be in the numbers for this month, I'm trying a new approach to get clear and have enough to complete some new projects. This is a kind of call for patronage in the form of pre-paid builds. Usually, I don't ask for paym...

Re: Cheek!

Thank you so much Inno!

I thought I was alone.
The well of succor is infinite.
But humanity is the journey through it.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart, from me, and My Viets and my El Salvadorans.

I worked till I dropped.

Please take time to heal?

Re: Wooden whistle won't whistle

Hi Malcombebb, Yes. The thing has crossed the boundary between cosmetic and music. A ceremonial instrument was never intended to play. I would square the ramp-edge to get a decent sound. The wind-sheet created by the mouthpiece demands a flat edge for the vortex to form. It is true the the wind-shee...

Hi All! Sorry for the long non-posting. I often read here, but tend to lurk a lot these days! "Whistledom" is in good shape thanks to C&F and the community it serves - and all those others of like-mind-and-music. CP is commercial post, but it never feels commercial to me. I can do upda...

http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/image/1404/mammatus_olsen_960.jpg dave boling I have been seeing this type of cloud since I was 4 years old. Some 60 years. This is just the action of hot updrafts against a cold rain-cell. When it breaks the boundary of gravity against thermal, it precipitates in a hard-l...

Re: Just saying hello

So, I'm new to the forum and new to the whistle. I've been lurking for 3 or 4 months now and finally today I decided to register and say 'hi'. I started playing the whistle in October, I'm basically learning on my own using a "how to" book and videos and I've become addicted to your forum...
