Re: My new Olwell is almost ready!

I'm curious :P How much did you pay it? It's definitely too early for me thinking to buy one, but dreaming is free  It's never too early to think about buying one--especially if you might want a keyed one in six or so years. I got on the list in 2008 thinking I'd want a Rudall but ended up ge...

Being a Matt myself, I think you might mean that it is matte black. At least I hope so.

Re: Question about olwell waiting list

I waited seven years for my six-keyed flute, and no, there wasn't a lot of communication coming my way until Aaron was ready to work on it. They sometimes responded to my annual reminder that I was still interested and waiting, and sometimes not. That said, I do love the flute, and Aaron was quite h...

Where in Australia are you? It may behoove you to get to know Terry McGee and his flutes. Even if you don't buy one of his flutes, you'll learn a lot about them.

Re: Question about Olwell prices

When I got on the waiting list in 2008, a 6-key African Blackwood flute was $3,250 - $3,350, depending on the head liner material. I suspect it's gone up some.
Also, the waiting list seems to be running around seven years these days.

Naturally, prices on e-bay (sans waiting) are higher.

Re: Revisitng "Local Hero" Soundtrack Music

The sheet music for "Going Home" is in the Dire Straits Live - Alchemy Songbook, if you can find it. Some overpriced copies are available through Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Dire-Straits-Live ... 0898982758

Re: Olwell blackwood keyless D on E-bay

In 2008 a rosewood keyless Olwell was listed at $850 with a 1 year wait. Prices may have gone up, but $2900? Really?

By the way, Brus, re. your signature: The bombarde is the only musical instrument that's both a noun and a verb. (Emily Dugas) Mme Dugas didn't think very hard about that. Off the top of my head, "drum", "trumpet", "fiddle", and "box" are all musical instrume...

Just to answer the original question, we hate the theme because it reminds us of that godawful movie.

I want those hours of my life back!!!!
