Liam, the travel of the buttons is adjustable if you find a good accordion maker.
My buttons are 3 mm out keyboard and they stop aligned to the keyboard.
I have modified the springs and now is very fast with a soft but resposive action.

I have a three voices similar an Kincora and I have an idea: if is true that add extra weight to the right side, I can try to add a little plumb bar inside the valve box (behind the grill).
