There are far more offensive articles about this than the BBC. Just witness Richard Littlejohn (surprise) in the Daily Mail (surprise!):

Re: Security
Thanks to all. I'm a minimally fair session fluter, no question, but over the last few years I've become a not bad street musician, as such go around the parts I busk in. And it actually seems to brighten people's day, to make them glad to be alive. Of all the things I do, this seems to most plainl...

Re: Acoustic guitar capo?
I second the Shubb. Best capo around.
Recently I was digging through my collection of guitar magazines and found one with a feature on capos, they reviewed about a dozen of them and came out in favour of the shubb as well.

Re: Fingernails
I keep my fingernails really short, but that's mostly because I bite them than for any musical reason.
However I do prefer the sound I get when there's a little bit of length on them to catch the string a bit when fingerpicking. I can't get used to the slip on picks at all.

Re: cool meals for hot days.
Spaghetti in a sauce of olive oil, anchovies, chilli, capers and olives usually goes down well in summer. Especially with a chilled bottle of wine ![thumbs up ](./images/smilies/icon_thumb_buis.gif)

Re: Food blog
hi chris, I love foodblogs so I added yours. Nice writing! Keep it up!! So many things to talk about, food wise. Berti Cheers Berti! I noticed your comment on the blog this morning, with regards to photographs I'm very conscious that I'm not a very good photographer (there's the trouble with having...

Re: Food blog
Actually, last week's gumbo turned out fine without the file, but the file really does add something to it. The real key to gumbo is the roux, which needs to be really dark (my Cajun friend's mother used to say, "brown it till it can't burn any more, then ten more minutes"). It works best...

Re: Food blog
That would be great, I'd love to try a gumbo recipe. I've heard American's talk about it before but never had the opportunity to try it. Though if you can't find file powder over there I dunno what chance I have over here. I imagine I can substitute something else for it.

Re: Food blog
Thanks Bill! There's another recipe up now to make you hungry again :D You're right about keeping a record to give to friends and family. One of the reasons I started the blog is because I found I was writing down a lot of recipes for people and also talking online about them but kept forgetting to ...

Hello chiffers. I know I haven't been around much recently, but I still pop in and check up on you all from time to time. Just been busy with other things, you know how it is. Anyway one of the things I've been busy with is doing a lot more cooking. I realised that I was spending a lot of time talki...

Re: Poll: Instrument Destruction
No, but I have fallen victim to that other tired cliche of the up and coming rock band and ended sets with a wall of screaming delay and feedback. It saved having to write an ending for that particular song... Wasn't the trick with destroying instruments to swap guitars for the last song so you were...

Certainly true in the case of the English, the rest of us in the UK prefer to get our humiliation out of the way in the smaller context of the qualification stagess1m0n wrote:I don't know, but I note that for some years now, the UK has been managing to autohumiliate at the world cup.

Re: Useful Android Apps?
GStrings is an excellent guitar tuner Gigbox for finding gigs nearby Metronome as a, well, metronome. There's loads of sythesizers and other instrument apps on the store but I imagine they're mostly of the "that's a nice toy for a couple of minutes" variety rather than anything useful. The...

Re: Local Hero ..
I did spend 9 years living in the countryside when I was growing up and aside from a 6 year spell in the city most of my life I've lived in Stonehaven (where I saw the lights in daylight). but there would still be some light pollution there. I've recently moved to a smaller town where there is very ...
