To clarify - all of the G Susatos I've come across in the UK have the same large bore as the low F, E, Eb and D tenor whistles. They were often sold in combination sets with a single head. Very likely that your computer input is currently set at line level and not microphone. This is usually a case of selecting the appropriate input level in soundcard properties.

Nah, the Susato G is their worst because it is an alto whistle with a tenor whistle bore. Doesn't work at all, but the some of the other keys are very good indeed for volume and intonation. I gave mine away...

The technique I found useful for playing morris tunes is to play an alto G whistle in the higher octave. This tends to really carry and you can attack the high notes without fear of being too loud. The lower notes in each tune will be far more audible. Easy for all G and Em tunes and D tunes are als...

The Castagnari Tommy is a popular choice for the same reason as the Lily, but the extra reeds make them far more audible over the crowd and give you more options when you're playing in sessions etc.
