My guess would be that forums with extensive discussion of fifes might tend to be devoted to fife and drum corps? This might be okay to you (or, maybe that's precisely what you're wanting?), and such places might indeed have a lot of information on technique and maintenance and makers (I assume tha...

I know there's a lot of crossover players here, so can somebody advise me of a website that has a Fife forum similar to this type of forum?
When I put it in that search I just don't seem to get the results I'm looking for.

Well now there's no need for alternative for a Shannon for me, because my actual Shannon flute should be here very shortly. It was the one recently listed for sale and I was fortunate enough to be able to take advantage of it. I'll report back with my thoughts on it in a day or two. I think it's alw...

I thank everybody for their thoughts and advice. As you can tell I don't have a lot of experience with this particular type of instrument, so I'm just guessing and going on the few samples that I do have and have played

IMHO I think the Copley might be the easiest to start, but you should be able to get pretty comfortable with any of the others within only a few weeks, so I don't see the point of having initially easy be such a consideration of purchase. Yeah, I guess I probably didn't express myself very well the...
