Re: Uilleann pipers in ITALY?

Martino Vacca?

I believe he's around Turin, so maybe a bit far, but incredible player and teacher if you can connect with him.

eBay: Pat O'Riordan Whistle D/Eb Set 11/6 SOLD

Pat O'Riordan tuneable anodized aluminum whistle in D, and Eb body, (did not come as matching set- one has brass rings and one has nickel plated- but that's the only difference.). A very sweet and clear sounding whistle with good volume. Purchased from Pat in 1999. $550/set OBO. http://www.ebay.com/...

Re: Contact email for Gordon Galloway

According to a good friend who got a full set from him a few years ago, Gordon is much more easily contacted by phone rather than email. His phone # is, I believe, posted on his website.

Calling Michigan-area pipers!

We have an informal, friendly uilleann piping club that meets in the greater Detroit area, drawing participants from all over Michigan and beyond. We're having a bit of a 'Welcome Night' on Sept 8th at 7:30pm in Pleasant Ridge, MI and are trying to encourage any pipers in the area who haven't been o...

Re: USA, Virginia, Lynchburg, Amherst, Nelson, etc.

Pretty stale thread here, but wondering if any of the Charlottesville sessions are still active?

Gonna be down there for about a week at the end of the month, and might be looking to catch some tunes.

Thanks!

Re: In search of Michigan pipers

Thanks Bill! I saw your post on the FB group and have been in touch with Jessica. I'll put her in touch with some appropriate folks once I have a little more idea what they're looking for. btw... shameless plug a bit for anyone else who clicks in here looking for info on Michigan pipers, or uilleann...

Re: Toronto March 2014

Any chance you'll have a day or two to pop over to Detroit/Ann Arbor? We're just a few hours away. Talk to Tyler about it when you see him next weekend! We'd love to have you here!

Re: Requesting advice re: week-long workshops

Hopefully you're in the Catskills right now, living it up! But in case you're not and are still looking for options, another to consider that's maybe a bit closer for you is the Goderich Celtic College in Goderich, Ontario: http://www.celticfestival.ca/ Milwaukee also has a summer school the week be...

'Semi-rigid' cases?

Wondering if anyone has tried this, or any similar 'semi-rigid' cases, and how sufficiently protective they are: http://www.midwestbagpipesupply.com/cart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=624&idcategory=75 I have a similar trumpet case, and its quite sturdy and protective, but it also has a lot of formed...

Re: Sessions to visit while in Ireland

I "second" the Galway suggestions. Assuming Sean Ryan still comes up from Tipp to host the Sunday afternoon Session at the Crane Bar, that was always one of my favs when I was living there summer of '07. But you can't throw a stone in that town without hitting a great session. Tig Coili's,...

Re: For the bodhran players out there

Bodhran and pipes  Chalk up another bodhran/piper here. :) I've been playing bodhran a little over 5 years, and currently play a 15"x6" Mike Quinlan drum that I've had a few months now. I got my start in Mike Austin's group classes at the Old Town School in Chicago, and have fol...

Re: Bodhrán Classes - Group or Private?

Well put. A bad bodhran player may be a complete pain, but one that gets too good can be equally undesirable! Funny, one of the finest goaters I know is Joey Abarta, who is now also All-Ireland on pipes. His bodhrán work with his former band Ciúnas was top-notch - technical, melodic, virtuosic. Dou...
