Re: Email scam

To my shame, I've been scammed a couple of times recently. Both happened when I was ill, and in a hurry. Obviously my brain isn't working well when I'm ill, and being in a hurry may mean you don't pick up on warning bells. I tell myself I'll be more careful in future, but I'm getting on a bit and do...

Re: Help with being patient

Maybe some of you remember Berti, who had problems with her hearing implant? She stayed with us a year or so ago, in the UK, and left some books and wool for me to post to her in the Netherlands. I posted them pretty promptly, and let her know that they had been sent. After a month she asked me was ...

Re: Name this boat

My grandfather, who emigrated from Scotland to practice psychiatry in Newfoundland in the 50s, used to tell a story of a colleague struggling to take a medical history from an elderly patient in a remote outport. "Have you ever had any episodes of serious illness, Mrs Tobin?" "Eppy w...

That seems to be the explanation! Double-stopping on the A and E strings. Thank you!

Double-headed Quaver(or eighth note)

One of my friends has a question on FB (you've heard of FB, right?) about a double-headed quaver or two (eighth notes, for youse Merkins) that turned up in some Swedish fiddle music. Both the heads are on the same spacing in the save, so they'd be playing the same note. Co-incidentally, there's a sh...

Re: Suggestions for a week in and near Northern Ireland.

There's a chap I know who used to live in Carrickfergus. He is a photographer, and found himself a bit limited there. He's moved to Glastonbury, and he's opened a business there. I have some of his work up on my walls.

Re: Suggestions for a week in and near Northern Ireland.

The Antrim Coast Road is something worth travelling. It's one of the "Famine Relief" works - and you can see why. You would not be naturally inclined to build a road along the coast in that position. But the views are stunning. I have a soft spot for the Ards Peninsula. It's very Protestan...

Things in Oldham, Manchester, UK are a little busy right now. I still find time to do a few things on the harp though. Nothing special. "Mr Sandman, bring me a dream" comes out well, especially the intro bit. For those liking something a bit more trad, I do "Miss Bowls' Minuet" a...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daiquiri Daiquari for me. Some places make it with cream. I can't do that since I turned vegan. There is such a thing as vegan cream, but let us draw a veil over such things. Nobody has mentioned a hot toddy - AKA whisky punch! It's said that the Jacobites in ret...
