Re: Game of Thrones
I do play timpani once in a while, when I feel the need to BEAT the heck out of something, but most of my playing is now on oboe- evil thing that it is. In a perfect world I would play oboe until I couldn't take the frustration and then switch to timps. I admit to liking the dragons also....k...

Re: Game of Thrones
I love Game of Thrones and I normally don't like fantasy-type stuff at all. Only by the persuasion of my husband, did I start in on the thing about three episodes into the first season. I ended up watching online, with the computer to help figure out who was who. When the first season ended I went o...

Re: Denny
This is such sad news. I too had wondered at his absence lately but never dreamed it was due to something like this. There are a few folks that we meet- whether in the flesh or online- that enrich our lives. Denny was one of those- on these boards, many years ago, I struck up a friendship with Denny...

Re: Orchestra & Whistle suggestions
Really really interesting thread y'all. I would love to play a whistle part with the community orchestra I play with. That would be great fun, but as it is, I have a hard enough time getting a decent oboe part, as in.. It's an example of composers not really being familiar with the instrument they'r...

Re: The egg rules the world
I AM crazy Denny..because I'm gonna try again....but with two different breeds...Dominiques (known to me as Domineckers) I grew up with them, granddaddy always had a flock of them on our farm and they never bothered anyone. In fact one rooster was my pet-named Goldie..don't know why I named him that...

Re: The egg rules the world
I thought I would have fresh eggs by now..but lucky me..they were all roosters..ALL.
What made it even worse is they banded together into an evil gang of rogue Rhode Island Red Roosters who attacked anything that moved.
I ate one this evening.

Re: The Great Gatsby to be filmed in 3-D
The Great Gatsby is one of the BEST books I've ever read- it fascinates me- I LOVE it! Why on earth would anyone cast Leonardo to play anyone..much less Jay Gatsby? And why on earth would anyone want to watch a film in 3-D? I don't like it at all- feel like I'm a kid again and I'm look...

Re: What Book(s) Are You Reading?
My recent library loaner is "Going Postal" by Terry Pratchet, the Douglas Adams of fantasy. I just got to the part where Moist von Lipwig, former conman and the new postmaster of Ankh-Morpork, has discovered the old sorting machine built by Bloody Stupid Johnson. The inventor thought 3.14...

Re: The Irish Money Famine
The "welfare cheese" that I remember being given out was when I was a kid, long before Ronald Ray-gun-zah. Around here that cheese was only given to the poor, many who could easily turn it into cold hard cash. On "give-away-day" that cheese was highly prized because it was very, ...
