FS/FT: Tipple Low Bb
sorry to let her go, but i'm looking for trading or selling a white low Bb flute from Doug. with lip plate, wedge and offset finger holes. It is very playable, doug did a great job placing the holes the closest possible, specially the RH3.
if trading, a tipple in D could be nice!

Re: An unstrangled flute!
I hope that Terry is being ironically criticized due to his threat to leave the forum, not for the result of his research or experience.
In any case, it denotes a childish attitude by several forum members that I respected so far.

Slideless... keyless... Holeless?
In case he didn't know what he was buying in the 80's... he knows now, for sure...
(It´s a beautifull flute indeed)

Re: Flute for Beginner: Dixon 3-piece or Tipple?
Mack Hoover, ever the innovator, once sent me a barrel with joints between the finger holes as you suggest. The idea was for me to adjust the sections to my finger comfort level before he committed himself to placing the tone holes in the final barrel. K. Well, I was just kidding, sorry Doug ...

Re: Flute for Beginner: Dixon 3-piece or Tipple?
Doug, You have to make a 7-section flute, in order to put joints in ALL gaps between finger holes!

Re: Flute for Beginner: Dixon 3-piece or Tipple?
Hi! Sorry for my many requests... Though this thread is many weeks old, I was not dealing with selecting a flute every day because of my job... But NOW I am sure about telling you this, Doug: I will order a Tipple 3-piece, 6-hole low D flute with a lip plate headjoint and 2-semicircles oval embouch...

Re: new flutes from Poland
I'm kind of picky about shopping at stores where none of the items are clearly priced. My usual reaction is to do an about face and walk out of the store or exit the website. I simply am not going to ask the salesperson, "What is the price of this?". If I had grown up with a bartering eco...

Re: A plays sharp: what can I do?
Thank jem... explained as you did, seems esay..i think.. I always find annoying to "blow the note in tune"... A XIX century flute (or a copy) will never be in tune (unless you modify your embouchure for the sharp or flat notes), because they are intended to be played in a XIX centur...

I've had the same problem as Jon C... :boggle: :boggle: in fact i'm going to revoice an old french flute, thibouville, and i'll have to reduce some holes and enlarge others.... very confusing, all thi...

Re: A plays sharp: what can I do?
My low and high A plays really sharp. I've tried turning the head joint towards me, and adjusting the embouchure but its still way out of whack. Should I try adjusting the cork? It seems like no matter what I try with the embouchure, I cannot get it close. All the other notes are spot on. Is it an ...
