Burke Whistles—no more composite
It’s been a long while since I visited the site, but I noticed that they aren’t selling composite whistles anymore. Does anyone know how long it’s been, and why?

Yes, I think some of them are from Tony Hinnigan's site and others from Phil Hardy's site also.Tor wrote:That website is suspicious. Isn't it just a copy of reviews that Tony Hinnigan already posted on his own website, tonyhinnigan.com?

Re: Copper as a whistle making material
David O'Brien of O'Brien Whistles used to make whistle from copper tubing. I've got a set of them and like them very much. I don't know when he stopped making copper whistles (assuming that he has, since I don't see any listed on his site). http://www.obrienwhistles.com/

Re: Packie Manus Byrne RIP
Read the news of this last week. Listened to the CD a few times since then. Does anyone know what kind of whistle he used? BTW if you are referring to the CD that comes with A Dossan of Heather , Packie Manus didn't play on that because by that time arthritis had made playing almost impossible for ...

Re: Examples of the whistle NOT in Irish music
This arrangement features a high D whistle (it's an O'Riordan). (There used to be a clip where you could see the guy playing it, but I can't find it.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVr26_lUvcY

The case looks like those Fred Rose uses. Chris Abell sells a different kind of case for his whistles.

Re: Whistle vs flute
Also, when you play the flute nobody will ask you (as many often do with the whistle) "So, is that a recorder?"Feadoggie wrote: The whistle is the cuter, more lovable instrument. The flute is the attractive, bad boy instrument.

High end whistles sold in Munich? General area?
Playing tourist in Munich and surrounding places. Leaving tomorrow for Switzerland, then the Alsace area. But I'll be back to Munich in two weeks and so I'm wounding if anyone knows of music shops around that sell high end whistles? (something other than Clarke or Generation).

Re: Bingamon/Jubilee lower whistles?
The Bingamon low D I have needs lots of air. On the high end for breath in comparison to Burke, Goldie, Kerry Song Bird, MK, Sweetheart Resonance, and a few others. It's not a bad whistle (and is very low priced), but you might want to avoid it if you don't have lots of lung capacity.
