Repair/Refurb in Boston area
Howdy - long time since posting for me. :) I recently came into possession of two old wooden flutes, and would like to find someone in the Boston area to restore them. They are in good condition except for a few cracks. One is 8-key, with a fully lined HJ and C-foot, and the other a 1-key. The 8-key...

Re: "Belfast March" from Harry Bradley
Kevin's right. It's a Lambeg drum tune (the fifes are just playing second fiddle - like a melody instrument and a bodhrán in a session at a Fleadh). A quick Google search found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCMrVpks8sk&t=15s. That's the 'native' speed for these tunes. You'll not hear th...

Re: "Belfast March" from Harry Bradley
You might see if it continues similarity past the first part to the march "Money in Both Pockets (But Not Mine)". See John Creaven. The Story So Far, track 4, 1st tune I found this reference with the same info, but I don't have access to the whole tune: https://www.irishtune.info/tune/706...

"Belfast March" from Harry Bradley
Hi folks. Been a long time since I've been here (Facebook stole me), but I'm in a pickle. I'm trying to find a source for the tune "The Belfast March" which I know from Harry Bradley's "Bad Turns & Horseshoe Bends" record, track 5. The 2nd of the tunes in this set which he ca...

Re: Flutini
Wow, I've been gone a long time. :) I'm a little late to the party, but I just started using flutini, and as simple as it is, I do love it! As my name might imply, I'm interested in using it for a fife, B-flat to be specific, so I was wondering if you might be able to add a 'transpose' option to the...

I found myself distracted by the cloud-dog creeping from right to left in the lower portion of the video field.

Re: Irish music movies
Welcome, Jimmyreturns!
Though the movie itself is not about the Music, the soundtrack of "The Secret of Roan Inish" is a wonderful source.

Re: Try my new game
Er ... yes. Sorry, obvious from over here it is. Big big hit with us. It meant something to anyone who was relatively young in the 80's, not least because of a vague association between the song's title and lyrics and the phrase "Going for Gold" which had rather obvious euphemistic connot...

Try my new game
While mowing the lawn yesterday and letting my mind wander, it invented a fun little word game to play with itself. The object is to continue a list of names of musical acts (bands, singers, orchestras or other entities), with some justifiable link from one to the next. If the link between the two i...

Visiting Malmö, Sweden and Copenhagen
Next week, I'll be in Malmö, Sweden with the Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes & Drums for an International Tattoo (we made the Home page!), with the opportunity for a couple of day trips to Copenhagen. Trolling for suggestions on where to go, what to do, what to (or not to) eat, where are the s...
