you could also try tilting the bag up (or down). Last thing you want it a chanter you've got to muscle to keep in place...guaranteed death-grip. Found this in a box of old stuff I've had in a closet for a couple of decades. I'm pretty sure it's a Caccavale fife...it's chrome plated and identical to the peeler metal fife. I'm not a fifer myself (as you can probably tell by my avatar)...so I was wondering if any of you kind folks over here had...

with the dollar in the toilet you'd also do pretty good picking up a new or pre-owned set from over here. there are so many youtube clips up now (unlike when a lot of us bought our sets) that you can do quite a bit of virtual shopping for a set that fits your aural preferences.
