shipping pipes from UK to USA

has anyone got any recommendations for couriers etc for shipping to USA? I'm sending a practice set in a hard case (actually a rectangular mandolin case) so should be well protected, but just wanted to know who people have used successfully in the recent past. also, any other gotchas regarding posti...

practice UP for sale

Hi everyone, I'm back after a long absence...couldn't get my original mickspangle username to work, so I'm back as mickspangle2. basically without going into tales of financial woe and musical ineptitude, I'm selling a practice set of UP, late 90s Ray Sloan in D. Chanter, bag and bellows for £550 on...

Medieval/Metal crossover

In an ill-advised attempt to reveal some of my more esoteric musical tastes, may I draw your attention to Rondellus - an Estonian early music group who decided to release a CD of Black Sabbath covers performed in a medieval stylee, and with lyrics translated into Latin. http://www.sabbatum...

Don't know about panpipes, but I believe the WPS guitarist is currently learning Uilleann pipes - hopefully this will lead to a death/dub/ITM crossover... Actually, since a lot of bands (Abba and the like) end up being re-recorded with soothing pan-pipe lead lines, perhaps all we have to do is sit a...

best Andean-Reggae Black Metal band?

I'm so glad to have stumbled across this forum. Despite not being strictly Lutheran (lapsed or otherwise) I hold that Wailing Puma Skull are the most accomplished exponents of that most tricky of musical hybrids, dub reggae and death metal, although their Andean influences are much more subtle, and ...

Hi, I got a Ray Sloan practice set a few years ago, as a complete beginner, and quite like it. Having played a few other different chanters now and having played another Sloan chanter, I feel they're not the easiest chanters in the world to play (but certainly not the worst either...somewhere in the...

yes, I heartily agree. Well done to Sean and Julia for making it all happen. I had a great time, met some wonderful people, played some excellent music and came back worn out but enthused. Thanks to everyone for being so wonderful!!

Closest thing I can think of is http://www.swaup.org/ the south west pipers who meet quarterly somewhere in the west country. Hope this helps. I’m from Portsmouth originally, so I’d be interested to know if there’s anyone playing them there.

I think Ray Sloan is based out in Hexham way, and puts on the odd gig/recital. Could be wrong, but check out his website. I think its www.raysloan.com or something similar.

glad to lend my support in a small way. Nice to see George Monbiot signed it too - good on him.
