I'm some of the poorest of the poor by US standards, so I've been told it won't affect me at all. But I don't really follow it that closely. I've tried to follow it, but like others I just don't understand it. The deduction depends on your tax bracket and is really just handing more money to...

Well, let's see... what have I learned from this thread? 1. You don't under any circumstances disagree or question the moderation policies. If you do, you face the possibility of being ridiculed by some of the members, and even by the moderators themselves. 2. Even if the moderators request it, do n...

I haven't been there for awhile so I haven't seen the behavior that caused this little upset, but people who think the moderators are picking on their side probably could benefit from a vacation. I mean, dang, they've gotten me a few times but it's been pretty clear they roped in a few others too :...

But you bring up a good point. Two hundred dollars is not enough. Anyone who would pay $200 a year for a Gold membership would pay $400 a year. Look upon it as a way to weed out the insincere and the uncommitted riff-raff. ... and the forum might end up with at least 2 people in it... if that many....

The truth is, it's hard to have any OT section (such as the pub) and not have politics come into play. For example: I started a thread about a possible cure for cancer that is taking a turn into politics as I write this. If the ‘pharmaceutical industry vs. people with cancer’ debate remains free of ...

I think one reason for the devolution of the poli board into something less good is the new policy banning posting whole entries by another author. This is in place to prevent us from harming said author, though what the harm is has never been explained--to my knowledge. There was a lengthy thread ...

The forum was a very good place to learn about current events with people you have something unique in common with. I don't think anyone here who has read or participated in it can claim they never learned anything useful there. Many days when I came to that forum I would read about things I might n...

Cure for most cancers discovered... accidentally
Isn't it the way these things always seem to happen? A drug intended for something else entirely ends up being what they've been looking for... and it's been around for years.
Cheap, safe drug kills most cancers
