Brian, That is funny. I remember John came in that day wearing a paddy cap and a green plaid suit coat. Since he is off in the desert probably burning something else I figured I would post the mitts anyway. http://inlinethumb10.webshots.com/41609/2082304050103960103S425x425Q85.jpg The force is stron...

Thanks Denny. I think I can get the code right now but I need to get it sized up. It is a frame from a video and I can't find the original so I am trying to enlarge it. Good times.

I hope John does not mind me saying but he is one bright guy. Over the last 5 years he has been a tremendous help to my pipe building hobby. I was going to post a photo of him playing pipes with oven mitts on but I decided against it.

I don’t think a pipe making business would want to buy back used pipes with the intention of trying to turn a profit. Even if a maker was able buy back pipes at an incredibly good rate (well below market value) and sell them for the going rate he would still only turn a small profit. Why would the o...

"Frageelay... It must be French." Great instruction Tommy. I just wish I would have been able to stay for the concert. I hope somebody got some video... I would have also liked to spend more time in John's shop (actually just quickly loading heavy pieces of machinery into my truck while un...

It was definitely a great weekend. I am just disappointed that our plot to ‘chain David and Seth to John’s garage and make them play and make pipes in Utah forever’ was foiled. We would have got away with it too if it wasn’t for those meddling kids.

I have not had any problems turning Bolivian/Honduran Rosewood or Maple but Ebony burns my nose and causes mild itching. I use a respirator that helps a ton but if I take it off and get just a little dust on my face I can tell. Unfortunately Ebony has been my favorite wood to work with. When it is f...

Leaks underestimated…

I recently got a new bag and have been kicking myself ever since for fighting with the old one for so long. The death grip is loosening, my shoulders and arms are not hurting and my “flying off the chanter” fingers are flying off less often. I went from about 15 seconds to 55 seconds per note from o...
