Re: Looking for a fife

Most of the fifes that have conical bores are two piece, like the Morneau and the Cooperman versions of the McDonagh fife. Healy fifes have a parabolic bore, but are also two-piece. Any of these fifes will play well in the third octave. I mostly play a 50ish year old McDonagh fife made by Roy Seaman...

FS: Hammy Hamilton B-flat Fife (one-key) Plus More

Greetings: I have several fifes up for sale on eBay. The most interesting to this group will probably be the B-flat Hamilton. From the eBay listing: This fife was made by Samuel Colin "Hammy" Hamilton, in Macroon, County Cork, Ireland. It is made of African Blackwood with one nickel silver...

FS: Olwell Bamboo Flute in D

I have an Olwell bamboo D flute that is going unused. The flute was purchased new from Patrick in 2001, and has not seen much use at all, and is in as-new condition. It has been kept in a capped pvc tube lined with soft foam (which I will ship it in). $375 takes it, shipping included. PM or e-mail me.

Wish I could be there with all of you, but I'll be marching with my fife and drum corps in the parade in Rhinebeck. I saw Walt Sweet at the Deep River muster two weeks ago, and he's looking forward to hosting you lot. Have a great time.

The fifes played by the late, great Otha Turner are a different thing than what most of us think of (and most of you have described). Otha's fifes were made from cane, and had 5 tone holes and a two octave range. He made all the fifes he played himself, using a heated metal rod to drill the holes. O...

Jim, one uses this for the same things one would use a b flat flute or whistle. Playing with a piper is one good use. The range is from the bell note through two octaves, and then some. If you think of the bell note as low D, then yes, you can play up to high B (what's that, two and a half octaves? ...

Thank you!

It's been a busy and difficult couple of months for me. Real life, family and friends have taken up all the time I used to spend on line. Hopefully I'll be back in (virtual) action soon.

Whistle Tab Font

Hi kids!

Does anyone have the address for the site where you can download the whistle tab font for Word? It seems to have changed or disappeared since the last time I visited there.

Maybe your monitor has better resolution than mine, but I didn't see any breasts that weren't clothed. One set seems to have flesh colored clothing, but clothing nonetheless.

I'm going to put goatse up for my next icon.
