FS: Burke Low Whistles--D and F

I have to face facts: I simply can no longer comfortably play my low whistles. Too hard on my wrists. So, I'm selling two excellent ones--made by Michael Burke--a low D and a low F. Both are in nearly perfect condition. They are about 8 years old, not sure exactly. The material is aluminum. The low ...

Re: FS: O'Riordan C rosewood whistle-CORRECTION!

Yes, thank you David. MY APOLOGIES. I did have an O'Riordan that looked almost the same, and I do apologize for the confusion. David is right. This instrument is not an O'Riordan, and at this time, I won't be selling it at all. I feel like an idiot. :swear: :tantrum:

Re: Newbie question: Timing of breaths?

Wow, thanks everyone for all the information. Fascinating and really helpful, because there's nothing more important to sounding good on a wind instrument than breathing well. It's taken me decades to get this part good enough to really make some music!

Re: Oh, crap, crap, crap!

Good luck putting your whistles back together, and in the future, I'll bet you won't entrust them to anyone else ever again. I certainly wouldn't. Moving can be really tough.

Re: Discovering How Cool Bansuri Flutes Are For Celtic Music

Thanks, good to hear. Because I now have 6 new bamboo flutes and need to make a decision what to do about oiling/not oiling them. My experience as well is that NOT oiling them has worked out just fine. In fact, for all the conversation about bamboo flutes cracking, I've NEVER had one crack even the ...

Re: Discovering How Cool Bansuri Flutes Are For Celtic Music

One of the things I'm finding is that flute makers (for bamboo and Bansuri flutes) recommend all kinds of different things, in terms of oiling. Some say oil inside only, or oil outside only, or don't oil at all, or oiling it improves the tone, or oiling it ruins the tone. Jeesh! I get it that it may...

Anyone got a contact phone number and/or email for Billy Miller flutes? His website gives no clue how to actually contact him and order. And I'd sure like to!

How interesting! I will check out the two sources of cane flutes suggested above and thanks! I'll let you know when my Chinese dizi flutes come too. They could be spectacular ... or not.

Discovering How Cool Bansuri Flutes Are For Celtic Music!

Hi, This might be my first post. I've been on the whistle site for years... and just today I realized that I much prefer playing the flute these days, so why not chat the same? So greetings. I LOVE playing the flute. I've played music almost all my life, and flute for about half of it. But I had som...
