Re: Goodbye Moonlight

Rest in Peace, Moonlight. Sorry for your loss, Alan.

I remember some beautiful music you two made years ago when the 'Chiffy Christmas' posts were made. Will play a song for Moonlight ....

Re: Whistle Repair

Not exactly west coast, but Tommy Dion in Texas might look at it for you. His user name on C&F is "Tommy". He makes great whistles and has repaired a couple for me. Send him a PM through the board. Never hurts to ask.

Re: A step up from a Tony Dixon

An Impempe whistle would fit your description financially (tunable ~$100-$110USD; non-tunable ~$80-$90USD) and I like the sound and responsiveness. **standard warning of the many subjective opinions on the last 2 terms. YMMV. It is a really nice whistle.

Re: Looking for duet sheet music.

Not a free resource, unfortunately, but a good book -- Emerald Duets, Christmas, vol 1 by Blayne Chastain & Peter Romero, available through the The Irish Flute store. The front of the book says "Arrangements for two melody instruments, guitar & piano".

Re: Plastic isn't bad!!!!

I'm also very curious how long it will last. I hope it lasts for a long time. I have a plastic 2 piece Dixon, regular high D, that was purchased in the fall of 2001. Other than a gold band (seemed like a tape of some sort) around the bottom that has disappeared, the whistle is still in great shape....

Re: Water Weasel... C/D/Eb

Feadoggie, Glenn told me the red fipple material was an inert wax. I had the 'honor' of being the only person to have a mild reaction to the material as far as Glenn knew. Wish I still had the email from him as it might have had a bit more info that has been forgotten. Perhaps his daughter would be ...

If you asked Stacey for a low, low G she might consider it. She always seemed willing to experiment to me.

Re: Amazing Grace

Congratulations on playing "Amazing Grace", Debbie! Isn't it a thrill when you get the first song 'right'? A few years ago I was trying to play a keyless flute without much success. A friend recommended trying a Casey Burns folk flute instead of the one I had. Right out of the b...

Re: Metal Whistle Polish

You're not alone in having used Maas polish. It does work well. It does need to be totally removed and that requires a lot of polishing. (I found this out the same way you did -- the hard way! :) ) You might also consider rinsing the whistle out (if possible) to remove any residue that might have fa...

Re: Help in restoring Devondancer's favorite whistle

Byll, I'm glad to have helped in any way. Perhaps Lesley somehow managed to give me a nudge to pass that info along to you. Hope your friends will be able to find the set for you. If you don't have a copy of her song "Walking in Peace", I would be happy to share mine.

Re: Help in restoring Devondancer's favorite whistle

Like narrowdog, I hadn't heard of Lesley's death -- haven't checked in here often in the past year. I'm honored to have one of her original music compositions. She was talented, sweet, amazing person. FWIW, Byll, Lesley's D/C set could be missing in its entirety. Lesley also had a C Traveler single ...
