And yes, that's with the proper piper's grip. I just have skinny fingers and small hands. I'd say the fingers are long enough, just not fat enough... That's my problem with the Chieftain low D too. I have long fingers, but they're skinny and they just can't cover the hole properly. I got a Shaw low...

Tam Lin hands down has #1. I'd say #2 would be Julia Delaney.

A price might be helpful in deciding on whether or not one is interested. ;-)

One of my closest friends from elementary school and onward was diagnosed with MD in about 5th or 6th grade. I watched her suffer from it for many years, deteriorating until she was just a shell of herself (though her spirit was nothing short of miraculous). She was a poster child for the telethon a...

I love back pressure -- I can't stand easy blowing whistles like Clarkes, etc. But then again, I'm a clarinet player of 22+ years.

Sadly, around here it seems to happen regularly no matter WHAT speed you're going. I've been going as high as 75 in a 65 and been tailgaited, lights flashed and everything! I'm not going to fall prey to some angry motorist's insanity and drive 80mph. I don't drive slow unless road conditions warrant...

I'm all for not being in a hurry, but speed limits are often too low for modern cars which have much better handling, stability and braking than of old. So stay in the inside lane if you wish to dawdle, along with all the lorries, tractors, caravans (which should be banned) and horse-boxes. If you ...

Yesterday coming home from work I was beside a woman who had the cell phone up to her ear held up with her shoulder while she ate a burger while driving. I've come across many people talking on a cell phone and smoking at the same time -- one in each hand. I detest when people are on their cell pho...

Welcome! I'm also a classically trained clarinet player (though my music degrees are in theory and composition -- talk about the dark side! ) and picked up the whistle a few years back. After some experimenting, I discovered I liked the Susato the best (my most used and favourite whistle i...

I know how terrible tendon problems can be -- but that being said, why sell it? Why not hang onto it until the problem is (hopefully) gone? It seems like such a shame to sell a beautiful instrument you love because of an injury!

I go to sessions all the time and don't drink. In fact, in my 30 years of life I've never touched alchohol -- just a personal decision. I've always felt welcome at sessions and never felt like anyone thought I was boring because I didn't drink (except one jerk, but he doesn't count for much). I regu...

I've traveled a few times with my whistles -- twice within the states (NY to Texas, Indiana to NY) and once from Boston to Ireland. And I never had anyone even question them. I thought they would when I traveled with the low D aluminum whistle, but no one even batted an eyelash.

Maybe you should take that up with the person who actually posted the video on the site, as the person posting the link here is not the same person.

If you can't find a way to fix it (and sorry I can't be much help there!), I know Song of the Sea sells goat skins for replacing the heads on bodhrans. If you scroll down to the bottom of this page: http://www.songsea.com/bodhrans.htm you'll see them. I wouldn't know HOW to replace one, but maybe yo...
