FS: Blackwood Copley keyless, with partially-lined head
Blackwood, all sterling silver with partially lined headjoint. Meticulously maintained, plays great! Unfortunately I'm at a point where I need to sell possessions as part of a capital raising effort to support my studio start-up costs, and not getting to play music anymore anyhow. This flute needs t...

Re: The Great and Awesome Flute Youtube Thread
Not sure if this has been posted already:

The video is actually of a Sean Nos step dancer, but the flute playing is very nice (as is the dancing). No idea who the flute player is.

FS: Uilleann Pipeworks (UPB) C chanter SOLD
Uilleann Pipeworks of Boston C chanter in black resin with brass reedcap and faux ivory mounts. Comes with two reeds by reed maestro Patrick Murray. This is a great playing, well-behaved chanter. It has a slightly wider bore than most flat chanters but still has the great flat-pitch tone and playing...

Re: The Bubble
Actually, for me, it means that I'm playing more than ever. Staying home strapped into the pipes keeps me from spending money I shouldn't be spending!
Although I should be spending some on reedmaking tools and supplies so that I can start towards some degree of competence in the black arts.

FS-Paddy Ward delrin Rudall Carte
I went to edit a typo and poof! Gone was my posting. So let me try again. A wonderful Rudall by Paddy Ward. Easily the best delrin flute I've had my hands on. Perfectly cut embouchure and tone holes. A blackwood endcap with pawn head turning. Comes with a Venus fitted hard case. $849 when I got it, ...

Re: No-energy humidification trick
Myself, I've just given up on the pipes for the week. -10 right now and dropping, 31% RH inside and dropping. With normal winter temps and as needed light humidifying, the apartment is 35-40% which my pipes can deal with. But I live in a 180 year old house with 10' ceilings so the heating is coming ...

I don't think it's that uncommon. Kieran O'Hare once wrote a story about Kirk Lynch blasting chanters that he wasn't happy with a shotgun. Others make lampposts out of them.

Re: Sean Talty recordings and/or videos?
Nice interview on the Rolling Wave segment, thanks Jumper. Interesting, he mentions that at one point the pipes were not very common in Clare. I can't remember where I read it, but I recall seeing this elsewhere, and in fact reading that the pipes and pipers held with a certain level of disdain comp...

Re: Sean Talty recordings and/or videos?
On a side note, is his Harrington Bb set unaltered, and is that the original chanter?
On this clip it sounds great!

Re: Sean Talty recordings and/or videos?
I sometimes wonder if it's worth the bother too, but then I decide it is! No different than playing the pipes I guess... I realized with both that it sometimes works out to a 5:1 ratio. 5 units of time spent messing about with things for 1 unit of time in bliss! I can understand the idea of not brin...

Re: Sean Talty recordings and/or videos?
Aah yes, that's a lovely set, the Bb, I was wondering who the maker was, I figured it was vintage. That's what he was playing on the video clip I saw. Oh well...I was hoping there was something out there that was easy to obtain even though I knew there was nothing commercial available.
