I think for ITM learning by ear is the best way to go in the long run. Its easier to learn tunes, they stick with you longer, and you can pick up stuff on the fly at sessions. However, for beginners just starting out or people having trouble learning by ear there is nothing wrong with going to sheet...

Has anyone had any luck getting in touch with Jon Sindt via email lately? I had the chance to play one of his whistles and immediately decided to get on his waiting list. Its just his standard Rudall and Rose, from what i understand. There is a picture of it a few threads down, Jon is holding it at the Olympia celtic festival. I will try to get some pictures taken soon, cant seem to find my digital camera.

i learned the first tune in that video the other night, but as John Henry's Favorite, off The Story so Far by flute player John Creaven. Its a really nice, and neat to hear these guys playing it.

Yea, i was trying to learn the tune and decided do a search here. I learned the version on thesession.org and have kind of combined it with Kevin Burke's version on Portland. I think it sounds nice.
