I'm one of those who posts results ;) Good on ya, good to remind people the group exists. Do you use a planer or sander to get the slip to the correct thickness before gouging? How do you shape the outside to get the curve you get naturally with cane? I guess what I'd like to see is in-progress pic...

I'm in that facebook group as well; some posts of people's results but no measurements or guidance on preparing slips, etc. I'll try searching older threads, and I'll update with links.

Are there any good online resources on making spruce reeds? Obviously there's tons of info for cane, but I haven't found much for spruce.

I used to have a half set with a hollow brass puck. It always sounded fine to me; the tone was much more heavily affected by what kind of reed I had in rather than what was on the end of the drone.

Flowers of the Forest works really well. I know Blackie O'Connell has a version on one of this albums.

This is amazing! I'd love to see what the setup was like to capture that footage.
