This is sad news indeed! Pat really made amazing whistles and was such a charming and friendly gentleman. Among the different flags he had hanging in his workshop there was a German one I was happy to send him at his request.
RIP Pat, I'll play on one of your whistles tonight in remembrance of you.

Re: From Joanie Madden - Warning about O'Riordan Whistle Scam
What a shame, that some crooks are willing to defoul this fine gentleman's good name for their own profit! Pat's whistles are fine works of art made by a great man and a real master craftsman, and I'm very proud, he sent me some over here to Germany. I still remember him asking, if I could send him ...

Re: Amplifier for whistle???
Playing together with various church organs regularly of course I need some amplification especially for the low whistles. The AER alpha combined with a Shure headset has proven a perfect layout under almost any situation on the road so far. Cheers Claus PS: If you want to hear what it so...

Re: Third tune for a C&F set?
Well, there's a tune I wrote in 2001 called "One For Dale". It's a rather melancholy kind of tune, but listening to it 14 years later actually I'm still rather pleased with it. You can have a listen on "Clips and Snips". Just scroll down to the very early contributions to this si...

Re: Pay up front or pay on receipt, is there the right way?
This thread made me think of Glenn Schultz, one of the the most amazing and lovely makers, I ever bought whistles from. When first I contacted him asking for whistles in several keys, he sent me to Germany four lovely wooden whistles in the keys I had asked for with a note just saying: "Please ...

Now come on, Nano, there would never have been a really deep thread like this without good old palming Talbert!

Ok, of course it's not the real thing, but it's surely worth a try:

I do own one myself, and for practice, when no real pipoe is around, it works out nicely.

Re: Paul Hayward - maker of Silkstone whistles
This is sad news indeed! Paul was a truly fine gentleman to deal with. Not only did he make some great whistles for me, actually he also built for me some excellent tabor pipes, which meant a lot of trial and error to him then, as he never had made tabor pipes before. But that was Paul, as I knew hi...
