Re: Tabs, what are they?
It's interesting that you're hearing people talking about tabs, because I've been on this site for years, and tabs are rarely mentioned. As I have been exploring tin whistles on the internet, I have seen the term "tabs" used, not necessarily on this forum -- but this is a great place to a...

Re: Tabs, what are they?
I find that when I get involved in a new field of interest I have to learn new terminology. Sometimes I wish there was glossary of terms for new folks! I am guessing that "trad" is a short form of "traditional"?Tunborough wrote:story of the rhythm of Irish trad).

Re: From D to C Question
In terms of band or orchestral instruments, a D whistle would be described as a whistle in C because what you play is what you get (albeit an octave up for a standard high whistle) and a C whistle would be described as a Bb instrument because it sounds a tone lower with the standard fingerings. Thi...

From D to C Question
I am just getting started in the world of tin whistles and I have a question about transitioning from a D whistle to a C whistle. (I have purchased both since they are so inexpensive.) I have a music background (band instruments) so I read music. I understand that both D and C whistles actually play...

Tabs, what are they?
I am like brand new to this and I keep reading people speak about tabs. A quick search did not return an obvious answer, so I will ask it here -- what are tabs with respect to tin whistles/music?

Re: Beware YouTube "Tutorials"
I am totally new to tin whistles but have played brass instruments in band from 4th grade through college. It does seem to me that some sort of YouTube tutorial might be helpful to start out. With that in mind is there any specific YouTube tutorial that might be useful to watch?

Oak Classic Manufacturer?
Hi All, I am new to this forum and to tin whistles. I purchased an Oak Classic Pennywhistle in D and C from a local music store. (This was the only brand that they had.) So, I am curious about the Oak Classic and wonder who actually manufactures them. I have noted WhistleMakers Directory (WMD) threa...
