Re: flute dampening out

Ok Also odds are your embouchure is getting weaker because the muscles are getting tired. Flute is hard There’s a lot of truth in that response. That’s why they recommend that when you start learning the flute, you start off with a half an hour of practice, and you don’t try to do hours of practice...

Re: Permission to come aboard?!

I don't think anyone here has anything against a proper Rogering . Think again! :o https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-e&q=Rogering Well clearly there are differences between the way things are discussed in other countries and the way they are discussed here in the States. My apologi...

If that was a sidewaysedly inappropriate response, I think you're well on board.

Now I have to decide whether to laugh or scowl.
Nope. That was just a typical two-way radio communication and response. Apologies if it was offensive

Re: Beware of cheap ebay flutes!

In the last two or three months, as my wife and I have gone off to visit various Flute manufacturers, those with very well-known names, the thing that has amazed me, are the upper end prices on the flutes made of platinum or gold, or a combination of both. I just can’t personally imagine paying $85,...

Re: Learning tight embouchure

The most intelligent observation I can make is to say that practicing every day is essential. Every day that I miss (although I forgive myself), is a day that something slips and it’s usually the emboucher. It’s been difficult to do the most effective diaphragmatic breathing too; especially on the l...

Re: Permission to come aboard?!

Welcome aboard. :) As above, most on here are ITM players, but that doesn't stop folks like myself from joining in, it's a nice place to converse about flutes, whistles, & pipes mainly, but some other instruments get a mention too. I have ukuleles, chromatic harmonicas, (tremolo, & diatonic...

Re: Permission to come aboard?!

Hello and welcome Most of the people here play in folk styles. Lots of Irish music. That's what I play or rather practice to play on the keyless flute. I have a nice Boehm flute and it's interesting to compare it to the conical bore flute. The Irish tradition focuses a lot on getting a very differe...

Permission to come aboard?!

in the American Navy that’s what they say when they want to get on board the ship. Someone else, probably an Ensign, either responds, “permission granted” or “permission denied.” I trust that those of you who have been a part of this for him for some time will allow me permission to board. I am a 63...

Sequestered and trapped?

I view the “stay home” edict as a welcomed (inexcusable) opportunity to practice.

I practice daily anyway, but this Corona Virus stuff has created a real opportunity for growth.

HECK! It gave me the time to join this Forum!! Now THERE’S growth!!!
