For Sale: Casey Burns standard Blackwood Folk Flute
I am looking at selling my Case Burns Folk Flute. It is made of African blackwood. It is his standard model with straight holes. There is nothing wrong with the flute itself. I would like to sell it because the spacing is a bit much for my hands. I am switching to a small hand, ergonomic version.

Re: Interested in buying a Casey Burns Small Hand Ergonomic
I sent a reply (two actually), but they seem to be stuck in the outbox, by the look of it. Am I missing something?

Re: Interested in buying a Casey Burns Small Hand Ergonomic
It has no tuning slide, correct. As for what it would sell for, I haven't really thought that far ahead. Is there a price that you are thinking about? I am mostly in the process of finding or trading for a small-hand, ergonomic version of the same flute (as well as looking for a good Delrin flute). ...

Interested in buying a Casey Burns Small Hand Ergonomic
I have always had a bit of a problem with reaching the G whole (ring finger of left hand) in particular with my Casey Burns standard straight hole flute. I looked on his web site and saw that my reach is actually less than the recommended seven and a half inches. I actually have less reach on the le...

Proper way to oil a neglected flute and fife
I pulled out my Casey Burns standard folk flute today to oil it. I had not oiled it in a while. I know, BAD! I have been dealing with a lot of health issues over the past couple of years, and moving across the country, etc. I was wondering if there is a correct way to oil the head joint? I just put ...

Delrin flute suggestions for 2024?
First of all, let me apologise is there is a recent thread on this subject. I tried to search, but I was overwhelmed by older threads. I am interested in getting a nicer Delrin flute to supplement my Casey Burns wooden flute. I want something I can take outdoors, take on camping trips, carry in my s...

Any inexpensive high D flutes/fifes out there?
This may be a strange request, but here goes. I'm looking for a high D flute (transverse) to carry with me when traveling and to generally horse around on. I was looking at fifes online, but most are either in B-flat or C. And any in D I found were far too expensive for my needs. I'm fine with an in...

Re: Help Choosing Irish Flute
Thank you all for your help. I went with the Casey Burns blackwood flute. I'm just now trying to s..t...r....e..t..c..h my fingers to it. That G is a bit a bear for me, not at all like a concert flute. My embouchure is adapting rapidly, especially since I haven't even played a concert flute in many ...

Re: Help Choosing Irish Flute
Does anyone know about blackwood Seery flutes? I was offered one of those as well, but I don't have all the particulars yet. The only information on Seery I can find is relative to the Delrin models. The person offering the blackwood one said that is about 40 years old. I'll post more when they get ...

Re: Help Choosing Irish Flute
I have a nice Casey Burns folk flute if you are interested. It plays great. I can let it go for $265 plus shipping. I think that’s a nice deal and if you were ever to sell it I would think you can get your money back pretty easily. PM me if interested. I'm interested, but can't quite figure out how...

Re: Help Choosing Irish Flute
Wonderful suggestions so far! I only have about $400 to spend unfortunately. I would prefer wood, but it isn't absolutely a must. Delrin would be okay. I would like to have something that I can grow into and not outgrow in six months. I also, hopefully, will be relocating out of southern Colorado wi...

Re: Help Choosing Irish Flute
I'm in southern Colorado, in the USA. Whatever I get, will probably have to be purchased pretty much 'deaf'. I'm so remote right now that I can't get anywhere to try anything. Is the african blackwood version any good? Any other suggestions? I'm really just getting started with whistle and flute, bu...

Help Choosing Irish Flute
I have a little bit of experience with regular silver Boehm flutes and some experience with tin whistles. I'd like to purchase a simple system Irish flute. I've been looking at McNeela's offerings. I don't have a tremendous amount to spend, so I've focused on two models. First if the "New Irish...
