Apples in Winter in Spring!

Willie Kelly and I will be taking our 'Apples in Winter' on tour in the springtime and we're looking for small performance opportunitie in the mid-west region. We haven't been through there together before and it's certainly been a while since I've been there. If anyone has suggestions please pm me....

Begging for a Hurdy Gurdy

Hi, I'm an Ireland-based uilleann piper primarily, but I've always loved the Hurdy Gurdy, and I own a beautiful one which was made by Daniel Thonon in Montreal. However, it's very large, and I'm travelling to NY soon to do a show in which the HG features. Does anybody in the tri-state area have a HG...

Re: Willie Kelly and David Power Apples in Winter

Our gig at the Irish Arts Center on Wed 25th of May is the main gig of the tour, and its important that we try to get as many people in to it as possible.

Would you mind suggesting it to anyone you know in the NY area who might be interested, thank you.

Re: Willie Kelly and David Power Apples in Winter

Martin Hayes told me that he heard a recording of the Hanafins and they had great swing in their music - something that myself and Willie are keen on too! PJ, all in D, but there are three solo's by Willie on fiddle - beautiful! And I take a couple of solo's myself on a gorgeous, relatively new Koeh...

Re: Waterford pipe-makers in 1990s?

Actually, Brian was gone from Kilmacow at that stage, but a photo should clear that up, I think he posts here. I cannot think of anyone in Waterford county making back then.

Re: NEW RELEASE - the eighteen Moloney by David Power

A recent review by Siobhan Long in the Irish Times; The sheer breadth of expression captured by Waterford piper David Power in his latest collection will be enough to stop many listeners in their tracks. The title is a reference to an Uilleann pipe chanter that Power received as a gift, made by Thom...
