Re: End Cap Inlays
Peter I think it would best be discussed in the abstract - if Casey would be willing.

Re: End Cap Inlays
I always knew Spirographs were good for something.
Casey, this is off topic, but I have to compliment you on the flute you made for a young lady. She is missing a finger, and the flute you made allows her to play. She really likes it. Thank you.

Re: Copley, Gallagher, or other for small hands and comfort?
I believe Blayne at the Irish Flute Store has a small holed Gallagher Rudall for sale. He has an excellent return policy if you try and don't like. I'll second the Grey Larsen Preferred and Casey Burns ergonomic flutes. They both are wonderful responsive flutes, the GLP with very small holes. I play...

Re: Customs Difficulties
I curious as to what would be speculated to happen if you traveled, say from the US to Ireland with a blackwood flute in possession, for playing at sessions. Would it be confiscated by customs?

Re: Very Loose Ring
Casey, would the CA glue solvent leave any stain on the blackwood if used at some point to undo?
Any sense of if hide glue would bond to metal?

Re: Very Loose Ring
Thanks all. I will try the handkerchief trick. It seems less destructive. I'd be very hesitant to try the Gorilla Glue. I've worked with it, and besides foaming it is a very permanent solution. Removing it down the road would be quite difficult. The only removal methods I know for Gorilla Glue is ph...

Very Loose Ring
My flute has a very loose silver ring that no amount of humidifying or oiling seems to tighten up. It is located at the bottom of the headjoint, which is not a compression socket for a tenon; there is no outward pressure by the tenon or the tuning slide directly on the ring. The tuning slide floats ...

I don't know, but if you do decide to restore, it would be wonderful if you could post a recording of how it sounds.

Re: Finger Vibrato exercises.
Ok. I had always heard that called a fast trill. Understand now what is being asked here. Thanks.

Re: Finger Vibrato exercises.
Maybe someone can clarify this. I was under the impression that vibrato on the flute came from pulsating controlled breath, not the fingers? If there is a technique of vibrato from the fingers, can anyone point to an example. Not talking about a trill.

Re: Top-end Flutes?
Is there some recommended source for these older R&R flutes? What I see on ebay typically is at a premium and almost always has cracks or other big problems.

Re: A wooden flute maintenance question
Terry's flute wood is quite a bit better seasoned than some makers and is very stable. I don't think I would carry across the parallel that because Terry's flute did not crack, another would not either, if left assembled.

Excellent example - Aoife Granville really does justice to the Solen Lesouef flute.
